Guest guest
Ok so all my life I have been hypo not hyper glycemic? I always had low blood sugars and no one did anything but told me to eat. Hence now being over weight and still in the habit of eating when ever I walk in the kitchen, got to change that soon. I haven't gained or lost in over a year in my eyes. My weight fluctuates from 242-255. I hate myself right now because I am so heavy it makes it difficult with the heat, and just moving takes my breath. I get short of breath all the time, (I know smoking has something to do with that too) Thank you for explaining this. Kathleen _____ " hypo " is short for hypoglycemia, that is, low blood sugar. ... Ketoacidosis. Mostly a concern for Type 1's or Type 2 who have no insulin producing capacity left. Edd

It will lower your blood sugar and it will make you feel better. It'll give you a few minutes alone, if you want, and a few moments to relax. And unfortunately, smoking is very dangerous for diabetics. Diabetes tends to damage your smallest blood vessels which can cause terrible damage all over your body. Smoking constricts blood flow. The two of them together is just asking for trouble. I know stopping is not easy, especially when you have a lot of stress in your life, but at least give it some thought. Guest guest
I have been thinking seriously about it. I had stopped for 14 years and just needed something to help with the stress level last summer. My oldest 4 grandchildren ended up in foster care and I was not able to handle he stress and it was either an emotional break down, and my daughter needed me to be strong for her, or start smoking again. Things are getting better all the way around and my grandson, who is 6, lets me have it every time he sees me. He even told his mother next time he sees me with a cigarette he is going to smack me, he tells his mother to quit all the time too. I have to work on one thing at a time right now as I have just posted my goals for the next three weeks. Smoking will be a priority soon. I appreciate the message on it and all the support that everyone has given me so far. Kathleen _____ It's really important to get some exercise. Walking is a good exercise... Guest guest
You have more health problems and stresses than I realized. Your plan to use your treadmill and weights, and to begin with small steps sounds like a good one. Exercise is always recommended, but obviously, you can only do what is practical. Good luck. Guest guest
Edd, I have so much on my plate I sometimes wonder what I ever did to deserve them. On top of the kids, I have degenerative disc disease and have had surgery twice on the same disc because it ruptured twice. It has taken it's toll on the feeling in my legs and feet. I have degenerative arthritis in most of my joints and have fought this since I was about 10. I have been dx with fibromyalgia and got to a point that I am functioning now, but it still flares up, I also have bursitis in my right hip and now my left one is hurting. I just feel like giving up most of the time. Thank you, Kathleen _____ You have more health problems and stresses than I realized. Guest guest
Kathy: I must tell you that my loss of weight made a big difference in the pain level I experience from arthritis & spine degeneration that I have. I used to take 50mg of Vioxx a day just to tolerate being alive. (before it was taken off the market) Now I don't take anything for pain--I do have some, but it is tolerable without mediction. I've had neck surgery to remove 2 discs & in addition some vertebrae bone which was compressing the spinal cord & nerve roots. This has left permanent nerve damage which has left me sligjtly numb from the neck down, particularly my hands & feet & affected my balance. I have some new higher neck degeneration plus 2 lumbar herniations now. I am able to walk for 30 min every day with the use of a rollator which is a 4 wheel walker with hand brakes & a seat to sit on when needing to rest. It is a wonderful gadget & your ins may pay for one if the doctor writes a prescription for it--worth checking into. They run around 150 to 180 dollars. cappie Greater Boston Area T-2 10/02 5/05 A1c: 5.3 = 111 mean glu 50-100 carb diet, walking, Metformin ALA/EPO, ALC, Vit C, Calc/mag, low dose Biotin, full spectrum E, Policosanol, fish oil cap, fresh flax seed, multi vitamin, Lovastatin 40 mg/coQ10 100mg, Enalapril 10 mg 5/05:140 lbs (highest weight 309) 5' tall /age 67, cappie@... Guest guest
I don't know if it will help your bursitis, but many here have had " frozen shoulder " , which is a form of bursitis. Treatment for that inclus\des using glucasmine chondroitin. Maybe you should get some of these capsules and try taking them. Guest guest
Ted - Kathleen may have trouble finding " glusamine " because you left out a syllable. It's " glucosamine " . I assume your fingers went faster than your brain there, smile. Vicki RE: was: differences in the types?
