Guest guest
Sara and roller coaster lovers, I too love roller coasters. I know from experience that I pay for them when I do them. If you love them then do them just plan on paying for them at a later time. Although contrary to what doctors may say and others say use caution. It is true use caution, but if you love roller coasters like I do there is no caution! In short it is best to not do them but then again, we only live once may as well enjoy what we enjoy for a short amount of time because we are in pain so much it does not seem to matter sometimes. So do as I say and not as I do. Don't do roller coasters! And if you say to heck with what you say " I'm doing it anyway! " I say " YOU GO GIRL! Guest guest
I don't think rollers coasters or even kiddie rides that just " shake " you are a good idea.......why would you want to risk your neck? I just sit here and shake my head......well, not literally since my neck is still inmovilized from surgery...... Can you explain why would you risk going back to square one? Alba Rollercoasters and Decompression Ok.Here's a good ques for those decompressed.what do you think you would do about rollercoasters?I want to go to Disneyland w/my husband when he gets back, but I am unsure about the rides.I LOVE rollercoasters and I want to ride but I am open to suggestions(maybe);)any suggestions send to zipperwoman@... Guest guest
>I LOVE rollercoasters and I want to > ride but I am open to suggestions(maybe) If the 3 or 5 minute ride is worth risking your health, have fun and hope for the best. If you'd rather play it safe and hang onto your current state of health, I'd be much more impressed with your decision. Being a " chiarian " myself, I have come to the conclusion that there are a few things that I probably should avoid. You people have helped me determine what sorts of things might be risky and what is okay. I'm not meaning to " rip " on you, but I've heard from way too many chiari patients who were doing very well post-op... until they went on a roller coaster ride (or had a car accident or other trauma). It *might* be perfectly okay for you to go on a rooler coaster ride- but if your symptoms would return.. would you feel it was worth it ? Guest guest
Whoops, Actually I have not gotten to square one so I don't count. Sorry Sara, I misread straight through your first line. My opinion (I think) still stands, Amber in Tampa, FL ACM I 10mm Rollercoasters and Decompression > > > > > Ok.Here's a good ques for those decompressed.what do you think you would do > about rollercoasters?I want to go to Disneyland w/my husband when he gets > back, but I am unsure about the rides.I LOVE rollercoasters and I want to > ride but I am open to suggestions(maybe);)any suggestions send to > zipperwoman@... Guest guest
Sara....let us know if you come to Disneyland! We have annual passes and are there all the time.....we just went yesterday! Our passes just got upgraded to include California Adventure so Zoe and I went yesterday and no..........we didn't do the rollercoaster. It has a loop (where you go upside down) and I've learned (for me) that loops make me feel terrible! We still do the coasters in Disneyland but they're all relatively mild and we haven't had surgery yet.......Zoe just asked me yesterday... " mom, after you guys have had surgery will we be able to do rollercoasters? " ......I told her " No, especially not then! " and she said " I guess I need to be careful too just in case right? " (she hasn't been checked for Chiari yet). We definitely have *Rollercoaser Dialogue* going on all the time........but you know what.........you will still have a FANTASTIC time at Disneyland! Don't let the rollercoasters stop you.......there's so much more to do and Disneyland is all about the *experience*!! Let us know what you decide....maybe we can meet you there! Much love, Traci, ACM1, no surgery, hypothyroidism mom of Andre (15 yrs.), ACM1, no surgery, cyst on brainstem, scoliosis and Zoe (9 yrs.), Thalassemia and Familial Mediterranean Fever Only lots of love and laughter keep us going! _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
Guest guest
After my first surgery (decompression, Laminectomy C1-C3), VP shunt) I went on rollar costers. That was 15 years ago and I didn't know any better. My neck always hurt badly afterward but I really didn't think anything of it. Since then I have had many other surgeries and many other problems. It was a car accident 4 years ago that really pushed me over the chiari edge. However, there is a chance that I was slowly deteriorating over the years and the trauma made it worse. I was lucky I lasted as long as I did. I cringe when I think of the damage I could have done to my neck- all for a few minutes of a rollar coaster ride. To me, not worth it. Also when you are waiting on line for the ride they have signs posted that say if you have had neck or head injury do not ride this ride. I would listen. in NY - In chiari@y..., " chiariowner " <chip@p...> wrote: > > >I LOVE rollercoasters and I want to > > ride but I am open to suggestions(maybe) > > If the 3 or 5 minute ride is worth risking your health, have fun and > hope for the best.
