Just say NO.

Synthroid bad.

Armour good.

Don't bother convincing him. Just tell him.

We have control of what we put in our bodies. Not a doctor.

The best way to get calcium/magnesium into us (in balanced ratio as they work

best that way), is via either the cuke/celery veggie juices or a liquid calcium

supplement formula on an empty stomach.

My chiropractor told me to drink my liquid calcium, magnesium, phosphorous,

vitamin D formula before bedtime on an empty stomach. It was amazing how that

worked so well for me. I had cramps, pain, misalignments in my neck, upper back,

shoulders, arms before that which he kept readjusting & it kept coming back

anyway. That was when I was drinking the cal/mag formula with breakfast because

the bottle was labeled " Take with food " .

But after I started drinking it on an empty stomach at bedtime, that did the

trick...stopped that pain & misaliging within two nights. My chiropractor told

me that it doesn't get absorbed any other way. Never with food. He learned that

at seminars he goes to all the time.

He was right. After I started to drink it at bedtime on an empty stomach, I

didn't have to go back to him anymore as the realignments/adjustments he did

stayed in place & tremendous amounts of pain disappeared & never have come back

in those places. Also my hip bursitis inflammation & shoulder bursitis

inflammation went away too & never came back with his way of taking the calcium

formula.

Tho I am still having a lot of pain in other body joints, hands, fingers, etc,

which the cal/mag liquid isn't totally relieving but is lessening somewhat. Sure

did stop the pains & misalignments in my wrists, shoulders, neck & upper back

though. I was miserable & couldn't function at all before he told me that. So I

stayed in bed a lot on heavy doses of pain medications.

Another way to take calcium that I've found helps too, is Coral Calcium with all

the vitamins (plus vitamin D) in a formula for it. It aborbs way better & works

faster than other calcium formulas by far. I take that the rest of the day but

probably still not taking enough of that either. So need to order more which

I'll do tomorrow.

Also one can use full spectrum light bulbs or a sun lamp in the home to get the

vitamin D from that when one cannot be in the sun for two hours a day. Also I've

read to eat all the colors of the rainbow in one's daily menu to get all the

phytonutrients of the sun & soil that way to the body can use the vitamin D,

etc. in the body that way.

I can't address the Armour vs Synthroid for you tho. As I've been on the

Synthroid myself for years & it's what's been hurting me more than helping me.

So I'm going onto the natural thyroid tomorrow & see how that works, if any

better, which I believe it will be.

Doc actually listened.... sort of

I saw the new endo doc yesterday. He said that either I have a parathyroid

problem or I'm not absorbing calcium because of gastric by-pass surgery. He's

running some more tests. He said he's got to try and find a way to get Calcium

and Vit. D into me in a way we know it's being absorbed.

The other thing is.... I talked to him about my thyroid. He said that with the

numbers the way they were last year and because of my age, he would have put me

on thyroid med, and he's going to, but after running some more tests.

The problem..... he wants to put me on Synthroid. Is that bad? I know how

you guys always say that Armour is best. If that is so, how do I convince him?

What is the difference other than synthetic vs. natural?

Help?

Hugs,

Tigger

CALCITONIN!!! Which you very badly need from the sounds of it! They have

found in studies that calcitonin is the one element that help stop

osteoporosis, and keeps the calcium in your bones where it belongs. I will

look up some web info today while I am off work, I promise!

Tigger,

Your thyroid makes two hormones, T3 and T4. T4 is the " storage " form of

the hormone--i.e., your cells can't use it as is. It has to be converted

to T3, which is what's actually used in your cells. If your body has

trouble converting T4 to T3, then just taking Synthroid (synthetic T4)

won't be enough.

I don't think you should have to " convince " him of anything. *You* hired

*him*, after all. Just tell him you want to try Armour first, and if it

doesn't work you're willing to switch to something else.

While this is partly true, the thyroid makes more than just T4 & T3. I have

tried synthetic T4 & T3 combo drugs and tried them separately... NEITHER

worked like Armour does! This told me that the OTHER thyroid hormones in

Armour DO have an active role in our bodies... Of course this is common

sense. The body would not normally make something it does not need whether

we KNOW what that need is or not, it is there. Our own thyroids also make T1

& T2 and Calcitonin. While tests suggest Calcitonin is used in regulating

calcium in the body they really have not got much info on the other two

thyroid hormones. T2 is used by some body builders for building muscle mass,

so that should tell you it DOES have an active role in the body! What does

T1 do? I really don't know, but if my body usually makes it, and it is

lacking now, you can be sure something isn't getting what it needs without

it.

, you are so very helpful on this group. I really appreciate all you're

doing here to educate all of us novices. I'm such a dummy on all this stuff &

get so confused.

But don't ya also have to stop smoking as well? I've read how smoking leaches

calcium from the bones too & also reacts badly on the thyroid. I smoke about 3-4

cigs a day. Takes me a week to smoke a whole pack. I'm not anywhere near ready

to give it up either. Don't know when or how I'll ever be able to quit. I've

spent $thousands$ & quit many times over the years only to keep going back to

it. Sighhhhhhh............

Thank you ! I sooo appreciate it. I've been so sick for so long that

I'm soooo pooped out and tired of fighting.

I did try the Armour before, and felt better when I was on it. I told the doc

this, he didn't seem too impressed. But,.... he is the first doc that even

listened to me that I had a thyroid problem, so... I'm still kind of happy.

Thanks again.
