Thea, part of what we learn from IE is trusting ourselves - especially around

decisions. You seem to have a pretty good understanding about how you feel

towards gyms (I feel similar), yet something else(?) is seems to be going

against that. Only you can say if that is either a need to go beyond a previous

comfort point for yourself OR an 'attack' of diet driven thoughts? One I

remember reading on this group some time back was how members were thinking of

exercise as 'intuitive' driven instead of 'should' ;-)

I was so upset is because I have fewer and fewer coping mechanisms. Once I

started treatment for OCD, I felt really adrift for a long time. (One thing you

can say for having OCD, there's always something to do.) Now I've sort of come

to terms with that I don't have any routines to calm myself anymore, but I'm

starting to realize food isn't doing it for me either. So all my efforts to

solve my problems and feel better are making me feel worse and I'm mad about it.

a lot but I have a sense that more intense exercise might be calming.

thanks for your helpful insight, katcha. that was exactly what I needed to

hear. I think it was an genuine intuition that a little harder exercise would

feel good. so, I did it! one nice thing about a recession, you can get any

kind of deal, so I got a pretty cheap month-to-month arrangement and I'm not

committed.

then i went and lifted weights for some period of time, until I felt like I was

done. I really do feel a lot better now, like I have directed some energy

elsewhere.

also this gym is full of old people, which helps. damned if I'm going to the

university gym even if it is free.

Hi Thea,

I hate gyms too. I would stick to something you really enjoy doing. Swimming works great for me...Try something new maybe, or something you use to enjoy as a kid?
