Here is my herbal/nutrient approach. I have just started with it, so I

can't give any results from it. I have just the constant flushing on face

and chest.

Primrose Oil 500mg 3 times daily ( a good healer for many skin disorders)

Vit A 25,000 IU daily for three months then will reduce the amount (

necessary for healing and construction of new skin tissue)

Vit B complex plus extra B12 ( anti stress vitamins and it helps maintain

healthy skin)

Multivitamin plus extra Vit E (starting with 400 IU and will increase

slowly.

Aloe Vera gel ( some people get irritated from Aloe gel but I can tolerate

it.)

I also have read that Kelp supplies balanced minerals needed for good skin

tone. I will check on that today.

New member here! I agree with trying a natural approach towards my rosacea.

I have been having acupuncture for the last six months and this has been

tremendous in controlling my flare ups.

I tried acupuncture as I needed to give up the antibiotic (oxytetracycline)

I was on as I wish to get pregnant. I have gone from taking 4 tablets a day

to 1 a week and hope to be off permanently in the next couple of weeks. At

the moment I'm having treatment once every three weeks, although this may

increase when I'm off oxy completely.

On another point I get the impression most people are in America on this

group and you all seem to be a lot more clued up than us in Britain. I've

found it very difficult to get any information here - my GP treats me

halfheartedly and has never referred me to a dermatologist. Thank god for

the Internet!

Here they are:

deionized water, cocaamidopropyl betaine, Lauereth-2 sytrene, acrylamid

copolymer (and) ammonium nonoxynol-4 sulfate, allantoin urea, carbomer,

triethanolamine, phenoxyethanol (and) methyparaben (and) ethylparaben (and)

propylparaben (and) butylparaben, lavender (and) pettigrain oils.

Wow, it certainly doesn't sound all-natural, but I've been using it for a

couple years or so and really like the stuff.

Sorry for the delay this is my works email and all my info is at home. Here

is the information on Jane Iredale cosmetics. As yet I haven't tried them

but do intend to do so. If anyone out there has used them for rosacea I

would be grateful to know what you think.

There is a web page for Jane Iredale products which is

http://www.skinfirm.com/iredale

I have also copied an article in the Daily Telegraph features page which may

be of some interest.

Chris

ISSUE 1670 Tuesday 21 December 1999

Make-up that knocks the spots off acne

Pure pigments cover up skin troubles that conventional cosmetics simply

aggravate. Alice explains

WOMEN with acne know only too well the difficulties of concealing the

condition. " I have terrible problems, " says , 28, a

marketing

executive. " Make-up usually aggravates my skin and if a foundation does

conceal the spots, it looks as though I have applied it with a trowel. "

A pure mineral make-up recently launched in Britain could be the answer; it

is already being welcomed by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons because it

conceals disfiguring skin problems without causing irritation.

Iredale Mineral Cosmetics contain only minerals and none of the chemicals,

dyes or fillers that are common in most conventional make-up ranges. The

pure pigment blends include minerals such as titanium dioxide for sunblock,

zinc oxide for sun protection and opacity, bismuth oxy-chloride - which

helps the make-up glide over the surface - and iron oxide, ultra-marine and

carmine for colour.

Jane Iredale used to work as a casting director and producer in California,

but decided to create her own range of make-up in 1994.

" I have always been interested in natural products, " she explains. " Having

worked with lots of make-up artists and top models, I knew their

requirements. I devised a range of long-lasting, light cosmetics to be sold

in salons and used on film sets and catwalks. "

Within months of launching her range, Jane discovered that doctors were

using her products in less glamorous locations: in their surgeries, to help

sufferers of such conditions as rosacea and acne.

" Some of the products - our camouflage oil-free cream Covercare [£19],

Amazing Base [pressed £39; loose £35] and Circle Delete [£23] - were

proving ideal for covering up blemishes, " she says. " Because there are no

chemicals, perfumes or alcohol, the skin is not irritated and ingredients

such as titanium and zinc oxide help calm lumpy problems. "

The ingredients are micro-pulverised into flat crystals that overlap instead

of sticking together - because the crystals are so much smaller than in

conventional make-up, they don't clog the pores.

The overlapping of particles produces a sun protection factor of 17-20 and

acts as a physical rather than a chemical block; not only is it immediately

active, but also, uniquely, the more make-up you apply, the higher the

protection factor. As the only pure mineral make-up available in this

country, the range is recommended by top British skin specialists.

Dr Nick Lowe, consultant dermatologist at the Cranley Clinic in London,

first used the products in his California practice. " Iredale has a long and

good track record in the States, " he says.

He suggests using Covercare on birth marks and on the discoloration that

follows laser treatment; patients often require camouflage while the skin

calms down. " It is also invaluable for such conditions as vitiligo, rosacea

and spider veins on the face. I use it after skin cancer surgery. We cover

the affected part with a bit of tape and then apply the make-up to the whole

area. "

Barry , a plastic surgeon who practises in Wimpole Street, London, also

recommends the range. " It is good for bruising after plastic surgery.

Because it isn't thick, it doesn't look as though you are wearing much, so

patients feel much less self-conscious. "

had been very unhappy with her " lumpy skin " and was keen to try

out the range. " I'm always getting outbreaks of spots and Iredale really

does

help hide them. The most important thing for me is that I feel much more

confident. "

Ring 0 for stockists, mail order and brochure. All catalogues

give information about ingredients and application instructions for

specific conditions and general use.
