Guest guest
Hi Holly, I am also new. Have you read the IE book yet? I am still reading it and trying to change my mindset. NO MORE counting calories, good or bad foods, getting mad at yourself when you do something you perceive " wrong " . Initially now I have a great feeling of freedom to be off the diet route. I am sure more experienced group members can help you more. Best of luck to you.

Guest guest
Welcome to the group. Learning to eat intuitively is awesome. I am DEFINITELY still a beginner, and it is challanging, but I know I am FINALLY doing what is right for me. Read over some of the old posts. They are very helpful. I'd also HIGHLY recommend reading the IE book. It makes so much sense and really gives you a lot to think about. Good luck, and I look forward to hearing more from you! Guest guest
Hi Holly, Being sick and tired of calorie counting is a good place to start IE from. There is some new things to (re!)learn but if you are patient and kind with yourself, they are certainly not all that difficult really. Welcome and if you are interested in reading about non-dieting there is a Book List in the Files section (left column on group site) that you can copy over and even print out for taking to your local library. Best to you - Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hi, I just joined yesterday. I've been trying to loose weight since April > and so far I've lost about 40 pounds. Guest guest
Actually newbies often help each other lots because they have so much in common as well as bringing up questions and topics that spark excellent feedback too. When I first joined I challenged myself to 30 days - 30 posts and it really helped me to get INto the swing of IE. Best to you - Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hi Holly, I am also new. Guest guest
Hi Holly, Your question is a valid and common one here. I hope that you can hear that IE does not encourage focusing on weight loss as the/a 'main goal'. Really its more of an 'after effect' and any adjustments one has in body weight seem to happen after one stops seeking just that. I know that when I find myself focusing on weight I more than likely will end up eating past fullness and for emotional (non body) reasons instead. But before you say - hey this does not work - I can tell you that I've read from others that their bodies do settle back into a more 'natural' weight and the real bonus is that they come to love and appreciate their bodies AS THEY ARE which is really a lovely feeling too. Take care and best to you - Katcha IEing since March 2007 (PS my 'IEing since' signature is to let others know that there are long term members here. Its also not so much 'brag' as a humble reminder to myself that IE is a gift - of time - that I give to myself. Everyone is invited to add this note if they want to) > > > Welcome to the group.
