Guest guest
Hey everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself.. I found this board quite by accident today, and am SO glad I did. I am already encouraged by the posts that I have read. It's great to see that I am not alone in the frustrations that come along with IE. A couple of month's ago, at my wit's end with my weight and my constant dieting failure, I decided to take my insurance company's offer of free nutritionist visits. On my first visit, after hearing my story, the nutritionist suggested I read IE. I checked it out from the library and LOVED it. I was on a high after reading it, and was doing amazingly. It just seemed so natural. The next week when I went for my second visit, she put me on a 1700 calorie diet and asked me to write down everything I ate. I immediately freaked out, and spent the next 2 weeks bingeing until my next appointment. The night before my next appt. I stayed up through the night rereading IE. I decided to tell my nutritionist that I was going to be an Intuitive Eater and could not follow her plan any longer. I feel like I have stunk rotten at following through with being an IEer, though I notice how I FEEL after eating now, and am learning to listen to my body, but it's so hard! Looking forward to learning from all of you, and getting encouragement when I need it (like every 5 minutes!) Terri
Guest guest
Bravo for you Terri! You really 'get it' - NO rules, not even a 'plan' set by your dietitian! Only YOU can know what, when how much YOU need to eat. Funny that she recommended IE to you then totally contradicted what it says (he he). My guess is that she is trying to satisfy some means of 'measuring' your success as a requirement for her fees (with insurance company)??? I think that if you and she can create some IE 'milestones' (along your IE journey which is NOT a race ;-) for you to feedback to her, that could help her too help you better? Keep posting and we will do all we can to help encourage you as you get going for yourself. We all start with lots of diet baggage that is FUN to toss aside and leave behind us. Hooray for your brave start! Best to you - Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hey everyone, > Just wanted to introduce myself.. I found this board quite by accident today, and am SO glad I did. Guest guest
Welcome. I'm new here too. Sounds like you have found the right place and the right book. Stick with what you " know " is right. There's lots of help here. KT (Warrior) > > > > Hey everyone, > > Just wanted to introduce myself.. I found this board quite by accident today, and am SO glad I did. Guest guest
Welcome, Terri! There is great comfort in eating what your body tells you and when it tells you. When I truly allow myself to listen to my body, my health substantially improves and the emotional issues with food fade. Judi > > > > Bravo for you Terri!
