Guest guest
Thats sad considering that once other diseases are ackowledged as a disease if someone suffers from it bad enough they can get disability and we can't. Fibromyalgia wasn't even ackowledged too long ago but now if someone has it bad they can get disability. I find this insulting because earlier I was actually nearing the point of a thyroid coma. Considering that this disease can kill you if not properly managed. A couple of years ago before I knew all the facts, I just knew what the doctor's told me, I had a doctor basically to my face say that he thought I was lying to him about being diagnosed before and only wanted the medicine for weightloss. Then he got the results back and ate his words. For 5 minutes he had to of said " are you sure they diagnosed you " 20 times. I felt insulted and pissed off. Right now I can't even find a doctor that is on my insurance and that you don't have to join a club to see that I feel is qualified on all the facts to treat me. And then Dr. Phil goes off and says what he does and probably hurt 100's if not 1000's of people. He is not a qualified person to make the assumption that he has. He doesn't even have any sort of medical degree, just a doctorate. Would love to give him his just desserts but your right there probably isn't anything we can do right now. > The problem with that Tory is that they really aren't interested in this disease and how it affects us. It's just so much easier to write us off as hysterical women, who are prolly nearing menopause, pre menopausal, post menopausal or maybe we just need some anti depressants. lol. I hate it, but them's the facts. They would much rather think that we just all can't stay away from the table, and have other 'issues' going on. Oprah has been approached and she doesn't even acknowledge what a great subject it would be. sigh. If will make a difference when they or a loved one suffers from it. Till then, it won't be an issue for them. > > SandyE~Houston > Possible suggestion for Dr. " I know it all " Phil > > > > I think in response to what he said, we should write the show and > request that he do a show on thyroid problems. Guest guest
Your right it would have to be a large effort by LOTS of us. I am prepared to write a letter tonight and send it to him and keep sending them to him till he says either " ok " or " go away " . Of course the go away wouldn't make me stop either. I would just do it to piss him off as much as I am right now. I would full heartily make this effort if we could get enough of others to write to him too. My husband right now is sending a letter to the director of the Santa thyroid diagnostic center@ thyroid.com (Dr. Guttler) about what Dr. Phil said to hopefully get medical support to get someone to take an interest. > > I think in response to what he said, we should write the show and > request that he do a show on thyroid problems. Guest guest
I agree. Oprah doesn't even read her mail. Others do & then screen the others given to her, many of which she's nixed the topic for her reading beforehand. What are the chances she has time to sit around reading the tons of emails & snail mail people send her about all kinds of issues? It ain't gonna happen is right. Re: Re: Possible suggestion for Dr. " I know it all " Phil Oprah is a dead end street. She's had some really great letters sent to her. It's not gonna happen with her.
