Shaw explains in his book that when you start killing the bad guys in the gut, they WILL make one (or a couple of) last move. Take the bad guys' perspective: they aim at you with chemicals. You try to defend yourself by excreting terrible, terrible toxins. This usually stops the attacking side from continuing, because the host (your child) gets terribly sick or will experience lots of pain.
