Thank you so much .

That is why I love this list. We all understand what

it is like to be large, unhealthy, and getting older

where we could become the next statistic. Everyone on

this list has gone through similar things.

Thanks to you and all on this list.

God Bless

HI ALL!,

In addition to the incredible job Theresa did tracking all these guys down I

do have one that is nice due to the fact that they are good about running

specials. The last one I indulged in was buy 2 get 3 free!It is kind of hard

to beat that with the multiple numbers we need to take! Just a heads up

www.puritanspride.com

they are quick too! :) Paige

Glenda, I know what you mean about not being able to be around people who are

sick. It is really hard. But please be careful. I love my granddaughter

soooo much, but I just can't be around her if she has something contagious.

It breaks my heart. With our immune systems the way they are we can't take

the chance of complications. Please be careful. I know we can walk into a

store and get the same thing, but please don't ask for trouble. We don't

want you in the hospital,(heaven knows what you'll get there)LOL

Take care and feel better

Welcome Markie,

well, as you have already seen, you are not alone. But then, burdens divided

ease the weight. And you will find a great group of caring people here.

Whatever the question, you can bet someone has been there. Glad to have you

and don't be shy.

Be well,

Thanks, . Even though the reason we are all here is awful, I am

glad I found all of you. Sometimes I get depressed and folks who haven't had

to deal with this have no clue as to how to help. Sometimes that makes it

worse. Just like when I have been in the hospital and finally get to come

home. The ladies at the church generally fix meals for several days

following hospital stays, at least for others. They told me once we don't

know what you can eat so we just haven't asked folks to send food. I can

understand that they don't know what I can eat but was hurt at the same

time. Someone could have asked or they could have sent meals for my husband.

He needs to eat and I am generally still pretty weak when I get to come

home. Anyway, thanks abain. Markie

Hi Kimber and thanks for the welcome. The pain is unforgetable. Even though

I had relatively few problems following the second surgery I didn't forget

what the pain was like. When I asked the doctors to check out the pancreas

in 1996, they told me they were the specialists and they knew that it was

not my pancreas. I sometimes wonder if the would have listented if it would

have gotten this bad so quickly. It took me four months to finally find a

doc who would listen. He did the ERCP and as a result told me that I did

have chronic pancreatitis. He put me on injections of sandostatin two times

a day. This has helped a whole lot. He also put me on pancrease to

supplement the pancreatic insuffiency. I have only about 30 percent of my

pancreas. It is hard to understand how something so small can hurt so bad.

Talk to you later, Markie

Hi , sometimes those in the church just don't think. And I am ok

with it. I think it upset my husband more than me. You see, we don't have

family close to us. I lost both of my parents in 1998 just five weeks apart.

My siblings are scattered across the US and so are our children. My

husband's mom is still in Ohio, so we often think of our church family as

our family. The line of work we are in, Mental Health Therapists, has given

us a different way to look at things too. And through all of this I hope we

have become more compassionate and more aware of those in the church, our

church who don't have anyone nearby to share joy or sorrow with. Thanks for

your tender spirit. Markie

Thanks. I really am glad I have found all of you. Most folks have no idea

what someome with pancreatitis goes through or how your life is effected. My

grandkids don't understand why I can't do the things I used to do with them.

(the oldest of the ten is only ten so they are all young.) How do you

explain to a four year old that you cant go to mcdonalds and eat or why you

can't play ball with them. This family, those who share the common bond of

pancreatitis is a very special one to me. Now there is someone, many

someones, who know what it is like to have doctors doubt you simply because

the tests don't support the disease or because you wiegh too much to have

pancreatitis. Thanks everyone for being there! Markie

Markie,

Immediate Relief (15 mg) for breakthrough pain. While I do worry about what

will happen to me when it is time to get off of these drugs, I wouldn't be

able to function without them due to the level of pain I would experience

We all have to make value judgments as to what we are willing to do to effect

relief from the symptoms of pancreatitis. Personally, I would drink my own

urine if I thought it would " cure me " (disgusting aren't I).

Take care of yourself.

That is not true Sharon, we are here to hear your complaints and you can vent

Hey Sharon,

that's what we are here for, to listen to those complaints and vent,

scream, whatever you need, so that you can get on with fighting this

disease. We love you and want to help you in any way that we can, even

if it's just an ear to listen. Did you know that there are a family of

four doctors who are working with creating cloned transplants of organs,

including the pancreas? There's a whole big article on them in Discover

magazine in the latest issue that came out. Keep your chin up, cause

their are new technologies coming out that could be a great source of

hope for all of us suffering from this disease.

Mira,

yes, there are some doctors who know nothing about pancreatitis. It

isn't covered much in medical school (I was told this by one of my

doctors) unless they are specializing in it. I would contact your GI

about it and ask them if they would check to make sure the stent hadn't

moved any since the ER doctor didn't.

Mark,

you should follow your heart. If you feel strongly

about this then pursue it without you mothers knwledge

until you gather all the facts, then you could inform

her about it if you feel it is a need to know thing

for her, if i thought i had a sibling out there i

would like to know about them as i am an only child.
