Guest guest
, I think Judy's idea is a good one, planning ahead. Also, if you worry about your blood sugar dropping, maybe you could have several snacks at the ready at all times. And be prepared to eat as soon as you feel a little bit hungry. With the understanding that you may need just a few bites to feel comfortable again. I find that when I eat as soon as I am hungry, I don't need to eat very much. This takes a lot of the drama out of food -- a bit of the positive excitement as well as the fear. When I do this, I never feel the need to inhale my food with desperate hunger. I sometimes talk to myself in the way that I would a small child -- don't worry, there's plenty to eat, you can have more as soon as you need it. Maybe you could try this for a couple of weeks and see how it goes? And also, try, if you can, to remind yourself to stay present with the food you are eating, to make sure you really enjoy it. If you eat without being present, you may find that you don't get the fulfillment you need even if you are no longer hungry. Hope this is helpful. Good luck. And try to remember this can all take a while... It doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. Abby I probably am using food as my cover for something. It's definitely got a strong hold on me. I'm afraid that if I don't eat at my regular intervals (this is how regimented I've become) that something bad will happen to me, like a blood sugar drop (which is very common for me). This is very frustrating and is interfering with my life and schedule. > > > > Hello my fellow IE'ers,> > > > I need to vent and share with everyone about my fixation on food. I feel very distracted by food and the thoughts of food. I can be eating and am concerned and preoccupied with when my next meal will be. Any thoughts on dealing with this? I know I'm stressed and have a few things going on. I hope this subsides. > > > > > >>
