Guest guest Posted February 21, 2000 Report Share Posted February 21, 2000 If you have never had a bottled Pepsi (or Coke) with salted peanuts in it, you have not truly experienced one of the great gastronomic delights of the South. I don't want to get into a Coke/Pepsi argument with anyone, but we all know down here that the Cokes in the little bottles are much better than the Cokes in the big bottles - so they are the best for emptying your bag of peanuts into. Guest guest Posted February 23, 2000 Report Share Posted February 23, 2000 I don't want to rain on your parade , and you probably already know it, but Dr. R. has told us to stay away from tea and coffee and sodas too. Not just because of the caffeine,(Mt. Dew is the highest in caffeine) but there is also acid in tea and coffee, which can potentially cause ulcers. Also the carbonation in sodas isn't good for your bones. It leeches out minerals, and since we already have malabsortion....not a good thing. I know it is really hard to give up stuff you are used to having. I was a coffee drinker, and I still " mourn " when I smell it brewing. God knows I love that aroma! I feel like one of Pavlov's dogs when I smell it! Anyway, Sometimes I think you just have to bite the bullet and do what is good for you, and not choose what advice you will or won't follow. Remember, there are long term consequences to a lifetime of not so good habits. That is partially why I needed this surgery. I sure don't want to put myself at risk down the road 5-10 years from now.
