Caren,

I wasn't able to 'do' non-dieting the first time I gave it a try either. I read

all of Geenen Roth's books, attended a seminar of hers and went home to MYSELF.

Of course I loved that I 'could eat anything I wanted' - and did too. But what I

didn't have (then) was feedback from others incorporating these changes in our

lives. This was years before such groups as this one were as available. Since

finding this one, I have been able to finally 'get' IE (normal eating etc.)

going in my life.

A lot of the difficulty we all face when starting out is the extreme and

constant 'pressure' that the rest of the world would like for us to live under -

diet mentality! I do hope that you will give yourself the gift of time and love

that reclaiming your focus on food as fuel for YOUR life needs as well as being

able to share what you need and discover with this group too.

Welcome and BEST to you too :) - Katcha

IEing since March 2007

last 30 years! I go to Weight Watchers and loose. Keep it off with monthly

weigh-ins for about a year. Stop going and it slowly creeps back over the next

few years. I reach my panic point and go back to WW. A 4 year cycle! Last

time I got mad that I just couldn't eat and maintain a healthy weight. I know

how to eat.... So I read Intuitive Eating and gained weight and gave up. Went

back to WW, mad at myself yet again. I went out of town for 8 days to get my

White Belt in Nia (www.nianow.com). I had to eat out for all meals so didn't

really do WW tracking. I got some good advice at the training. My brain has a

relationship with food, but my body doesn't. So I'm trying to 'ask' my body

what it wants to eat.

this morning and didn't so I'm proud. It's still hard to get rid of the diet

mentality and not think of foods as good or bad and my eating for the day as

good or bad. I teach kindergarten so it's back to school and I have to be on a

schedule. I'm usually pretty hungry by lunch (I think!).
