Guest guest
Sue, thanks for your post. Tristan had chronic diarhea for a verylong time, We were on DAN and GF/CF then switched to homeotoxicology and SCD and stools got normal. After about a year of normal stool I added soy, rice etc. This last time his yeast has got out of control. His stools are normal and progress still going forward. This is why I dont know where to start here. Im legal now so I guess I will just keep what he is eating for now and see what happens. Are we using gas and stools as the indicator of whether he can have this or that? Thats what I dont understand yet. I just hate to take away from him if I dont have to but maybe I do? Most of the foods he is eating in the past are legal once I made them from scratch like apple sauce. I just had to modify a little because he was eating pretty darn close to SCD accept for soy milk and rice and cookies. kimberly " I think I read that your child does not have stool problems (anymore? But I did not get whether SCD helped the stools or something prior). "

Guest guest
Thanks Patti.....This kinda reminds me of when I first went GF/CF I would give tristan a bowl of beans then the next time I gave it he thru it on the floor because he was smart and remembered he liked the taste but it did not provide the high he was looking for. Oh those days were hard!! kimberly SCD 1 week tristan 5yr autistic normal bowels ......(picture them sitting on his shoulder, complete with devil horns and pitchfork).... saying " Tell you mom you want BEANS!!! " .... because they KNOW that was one of their sources of nourishment.
Guest guest
Hi , > to SCD accept for soy milk and rice and cookies. > kimberly Even if he is having good stools it is still a good idea to wait at least a little longer before reintroducing beans. Here's the why. Although on the legal list, even when properly prepared (navy beans, lentil, split peas) still have a little starch. We soak them and cook them with lots of moisture which helps the If you have them too soon although his bowels are pretty good you may still feed some of the bad bugs. You want to get him " cleared out " and still feed his body allowing it to heal itself. After a while on the diet he should have a pretty good population of " good bugs " (especially if you use probiotics or yogurt or other fermented food) and had any healing that his gut needed to make. At that point the body should be better able to handle the little bit of starch in the legal beans. Now that you've cut out soy, rice and cookies you're on the right path. In the meantime he can have string beans now, fresh lima beans soon and before you know it test out the dried beans again. Sheila
