Hey all,

I'd like to make a distinction about " Journaling " . There are many types, as I

see it- and I'll talk about 2 here. I myself began journaling because of an

English class assignment in college. That was our assignment- to journal so

many times a week- about anything. I wrote about guys, and friends, and dreams,

and conflicts, etc. It captured me then- and I still love doing it today. It

really helps me process when I feel overwhelmed or conflicted about something.

THIS here is very different from the " Journaling " that has been recommended as a

weight loss tactic. " Write down everything you eat, how many calories it has,

when you ate, where you ate " , etc. I resisted this type of journaling since day

1. I REALLY hated it- and refuse to do it.

However, I do feel it's good to sit and explore our emotions- and what we're

thinking. I think it's different than meditating- where you clear your mind.

Journaling helps me figure out what's coming up for me. And, it's really been a

personal growth tool.

I live alone, so don't have a partner to discuss the day's events with. My

journal has become my friend in a lot of ways.

Give it a try if you haven't already.

AMEN! Wish I didn't have 6 graduate credits to finish. I need to manage my time better and allow maybe 1 hour of IE time to split between reading, posting, and journalling.Thanks 4 posting! Right on track! I think to list what I ate after the fact seems to maybe help me understand why I ate it but doesn't do much to chance my future behavior. Excellent point Jenneil. I resist/don't do journaling because it is a trigger to

me. Yet I am aware, and even have experienced WOW! type results when I did avail

myself of the practice of writing - either non-dominant hand and/or free mind

(whatever comes up, just going with it). I tend to do this mentally and that

helps somewhat too. The mental way does not seem to have the 'lasting' power

that writing can though. Its a start and who knows, I could conquer my

resistance and write some day too :)
