Guest guest
Thanks for the recipie. I'm really going to try it! Rest? for the wicked?? It seems all I do lately is nothing. I don't have the energy for much more. The breathing has been a problem the last few days but I think that's the weather. I noticed that the smoke from peoples wood stoves and fireplaces is hanging close to the ground, so it's got to be the air. I'm hoping to try to start back walking this week. I'll probably have to start from scratch again, but I really enjoyed it. Granted, it's not as nice out as I would like, but you get heated up after a few miles! Re: Mayr Mike Hey, Brat, here's the receipt (as my grammie would say) for crabapple butter.3 Gal. washed yellow crabapples(add just enough water in a big stainless steel kettle so that you can see it at the bottom of the apples in the pot, and bring to a boil and cook until the apples soften and split open. Put all througha seive or food mill to remove peel, stems and seeds.)To the apple pulp, which will be a very deep yellow/orange shade of apple sauce and taste bitterand sour, add 1 Cup granulated sugar for every 1 1/2 Cup pulp, add 2/3 Cup ground cinnamon,1/4 Cup nutmeg, 1 tsp. allspice, and 1/2 tsp. ground cloves and mix well. Pour mixture into shallowroasting pans and place in oven on low heat (300 F), stir it every half hour, taking care to scrape down the sides of the pans to get all the color it develops. When it thickens to the point where itclumps off the spoon (approx. 2-3 hours), can it hot in hot jars. This recipe makes 24 half pintjelly jars plus a little more. My baby crabapple tree gave me enough for a batch of jam this size.I was so surprised when I got that many apples from it after only two years. Stuff is sinfully good, too. LOLHope you like it if you make it. No other type of apple works with this recipe, although you can comeclose, it just isn't the same as using crabapples. Hope you are getting some real rest these days. Guest guest
P.S. I forgot, I am cooking a small turkey and all the trimmings so we can eat leaftovers all week after Thanksgiving. MM
Guest guest
Actually, Brattypoo, It will be just me and the boys on Turkey Day this year. We are not going south for the holiday week, but are going south on the coast a couple of days after Christmas to meet the woman who was Reesey's foster mom when he was tiny, and we are having a vacation on the beach. The kids can rent wetsuits and spend all their time on boogy boards, and she and I can sit under our umbrellas and read. LOL Sounds like perfect fun to me. I am saving some good murder mysteries to take with me. We are taking easy to fix meals, and letting the kids cook their own burgers and hotdogs on the open fire at the beach, too. We will save our sheckels for one dinner out for fresh seafood, but the rest will be just catch as catch can. We are NOT COOKING for a whole week. Guest guest
MM can I come to your house after I get done eating thanksgiving here at my house? I can get turkey and all the trimmings and fixing that goes right along with it all the time. I love this time of year cause of the food. hehehehe Love Kimi
Guest guest
Kimi, Sure, honey, you come right along here and get a second dinner. Love to have you. Over the years while I was still going home to the folks for the holiday, my mother used to say it wouldn't be Thanksgiving if Mike didn't bring at least two friends to the table. She told people I was just like my father, who had the invitation habit. I love to cook for appreciative eaters. LOL Love, MM
Guest guest
OK, Brat, I would never say something like that to a recovering surgical patient...would I? Fog is thick today, so I really don't know what I might do. JK. Happy Turkey Day to you. Love, MM

Guest guest
Deanna, what are you doing at the computer? I know you love us, but shouldn't you be resting? Or do you figure you'll rest when we all (well, all that count) get snowed in? How are you? Mojo Re: Mike > wuss, wimp, chicken chit. stop being a baby. Guest guest
Hey, Brat, Ya got that right. My kids practically get the skin scrubbed off their hands when they come home from school or play with other kids, but YE GODS! If I didn't make them do that, I'd be down sick every minute of the year, and so would they. I even use wipes on my hands just after visiting the school for the boys' conferences, etc. I've SEEN what those kids touch and do, and it ain't pretty. LOL How are you holding up with all that white stuff? We finally are getting some rain, but not enough to put in a tea cup...just drizzle, drizzle, drizzle. Makes me hurt, the temperatures are sort of so-so, and it just hangs there in the sky. Everyone has to use their headlights all day, it's so dark out, but no big storms, yet. We need RAIN, and we're getting little drips. More later. Love, hugs, and smoochies, MM
Guest guest
Hi MM We've got plenty of rain here in Northern Ireland. Sure you can come over and enjoy it if you want to. I hate it.LOL Lorraine-ann
Guest guest
Lorianne, I know about rain, usually, that is. I was born in Portland, OR, which means I have webs between my toes. LOL I usually hate it after about six weeks of the stuff, but this year is a dry one so far, and very worrying. Hugs, MM
Guest guest
Hey, Brat, I got the outside lights all up and on last Sunday. The boys were inside doing their house- work, so I did the outside alone. Not a smart thing to do, but at least most of last year's lights still work so I only had to add strings, not subtract. The best part is that the color fades to pastels after a year in the sunlight, so the lights are prettier this way, I think. I got out last year's grapevine tree, but am covering it with ivory tulle this year, green, red, and gold French wired ribbons and the white lights. No other ornaments, or complicated grape clusters, or all that jazz from last year. I put it all away for another time. I am into simple right now, since I feel simple. Brain fog is hitting hard these days, and my lesions are back big time, back pain, the whole nine yards. Oh, and the mask of Zorro is back, too. Ick. Anyhow, I am seriously thinking of just having the tree and none of the village, creche, etc. cruds I usually do. I know the kids will protest, so I don't know. The boys brought in the boxes for me, but finding the energy with all the shopping, errands, housecleaning, etc. may be impossible this year. I always think, when the Fall weather gets crisp, clear and cold that I am going to be fine THIS winter. I always end up in crisis with the first real storms of the season...and it goes downhill from there. I keep telling myself not to set such high expectations for myself, but do I listen? Nah! So, today I went to the post office, mailed 147 cards off, went grocery shopping (that never ending chore like cleaning), had a little lunch, and am now seriously contemplating a nap. I hurt, and it's started to rain hard again. So, I'll write later on. You enjoy your time off. Love, MM
Guest guest
Bratty Poo, Oh, sure. I'll get my stamps today though and get them out. And you have to have high expectations for yourself!! Hey, we would all fall flat on our faces if we didn't! I'm glad you got your decorations up.
