When adding them after this to a casserole, I cook them with legal hot dogs or

whatever another two hours. They are tender, tasty and don't cause formation of

gas. (My butcher makes the legal hot dogs and sells them to all customers).

If you put salt in the beans while they are boiling, they do not

soften up.
