Hi all,

I had my first appointment with my PCP, Dr. Rothberg at Newton Wellesley

Hospital. First impression, he's a great guy. He understands morbid

obesity and the need for gastric bypass, and assured me as soon as I spoke

with him that he would refer me...I guess he could tell that I was really

nervous about asking for a referal. Aparantly he's one of Dr Thayer's

patients as well...And he's lost 93 pounds so far in the last year and a

half I think. I had no idea from just looking at him, till he showed me his

old id. Hehe...I think I'm gonna really like having him as a Dr. He says

my heart sounds strong, and my lungs are clear...He's a little worried about

my bad circulation in my legs, but didn't seem too alarmed. The funny thing

is that when I have been thinking about my medical problems I've been really

building stuff up in my head...And after the appointment, I just have this

huge relief. So now that I have the referal I was so afraid I wouldn't be

able to get in time, I'll be able to make it to my appointment with Dr.

Thayer next week, Feb 1st. Yay me! :)

Congrats !

Don't worry about the circulation, once the surgery is done, you'll be

pumping those vessels more and more than you've ever imagined!

Hehe...Thanks Dawn! It was funny...My PCP is very optimistic. He was going

over a list of all my problems saying " Nope, nope, nope, nope...Not gonna

try and even treat any of these because when you're post op those will all

go away. " Man...I liked to hear that :)

Thanks Lyssa, I'll definitely do that. I have my appointment with Dr.

Thayer next Thursday, Feb. 1st. Isn't that the day of the monthly support

group meeting? If so, there is a good chance I'll be there. Hehe. :)

Congratulations! Imagine finding a PCP who has had WLS and was a patient of

Dr. T! That is fantastic. I guess you could not have found anyone who could

be more understanding. Best of luck with your consult on the 1st, I hope you

get a surgical date real soon.
