You will be hard pressed to find much. We drove to Weston for 3 1/2 years upon getting the diagnosis. . Hi Ida,

The Early Step’s number for PBC is . They are

located in North Palm Beach (just North of Okeechobee

off I-95) but they may have a branch closer to Boynton. She should call asap

as it usually takes a month before you can be seen and then we all know how

long services can take to get started. Please feel free to pass on my number

if she has any questions or needs any guidance.

That is frustrating. But do they have the equivalent of an Early Steps program

where the children get tested for free to get a diagnosis. I suspect he is

somewhere in the spectrum.

Did all of that. Not at all an adequate source of services. We were in therapy within 1 wk of a private diagnosis. Our darling has been the example of early intervention that works. I exhausted all avenues. We were told by early steps that he would never get better and that the divorce rate was 80% and that we should counseling. We have a healthy, happy family no thanks to PB County. Listen to your gut and don't expect it to be easy, but there is hope. It is all about the marathon, not the sprint. Well, we called Early Steps, which is the state early intervention, also known

as Part C. was evaluated by the state, and they gave us a fairly nice

list of all sorts of therapists. All services were free until she turned 3. By

all means, have your friend call and they'll tell her everything she needs to

know. There is plenty of help there; I lived in Boynton Beach for 8 years, and

we did ok. I will say, that when we first took my daughter to her pediatrician,

he suggested we go to Dan Marino to have a neurologist evaluate her. 2 1/2

years later, we still have the same neurologist (Dr. ez), whom we

love. We now live in Broward (for Baudhuin and DMC). Also, tell your friend,

through Early Steps, we found Tina King, an Infant/Toddler Specialist (or just

Special Instruction). Her service is called Learning Stride and we loved her.

She helped greatly. Anyway...please pass on my info for your friend, if

you'd like. My name is Bartik and my email is bartiks@.... I'd

be happy to help her : )
