Guest guest
Yes--a stenosis of anything is a narrowing. In the case of vascular stenosis, it is usually caused by the factors mentioned. --I wear alot of Merrell shoes because they offer excellent support. I wear mostly clog type because I hate shoes, too. They make some really good, supportive sandels, too. Kathy RE: new problems for me What IS stenotic disease?I may get this wrong, but then Kathy or someone will correct me. lol Its thestarting of hardening of the arteries, or calcium building up in the veinsthat reduces the blood flow in the legs. I really don't know how to describeit. Here's a page about it:http://www.servicesunited.com/ArterialCirculation.htmlAlso adding to the docs concern is my numb toes on both feet and the burningfeeling in my feet......plus the fact that my feet and legs hurt so bad andfeel like they're on fire when I walk even short distances. If I'm wearingenclosed shoes it makes the burning worse, and my docs have told me that Ineed a good support shoe and that usually means nosandals...................I've always hated to wear shoes........waww!! lolPlease visit our website at:http://ACES_Autoimmune.tripod.com
Guest guest
Intermittant claudication? Peripheral vascular disease? Kathy RE: new problems for me Let us know how it goes. Kathy, thanks for the info. I totally forgot to ask my doc that question. Anyway, he said he really didn't want me to go through an angiogram (sp?) right now if it wasn't absoultly necessary. He checked my pulses in both feet and he said he didn't think it was that bad yet, but when I told him how bad my feet and legs start hurting when I even walk short distances he did say that was one of the symptoms, I forgot the big word he used for it. lol For my allergies/asthma he started me on singular, and I'm to keep taking my zyrtec-D and using my inhaler. One of the little girls I keep sometimes is really allergic to cats, but she loves coming to Aunt 's house to play with her cats had taken a singular the last time she came over and she stayed most of the day and she was fine. She usually sneezes, scratches, eyes swellup, etc, but nothing this time. Doc did say that the singular would help with both the asthma and allergies. One more to add to my long list of meds......My prescription $$$ is getting astromonical. Oh well! Oh yeah, he did agree that I needed to see an orthopedic doc about my hip pain, it just keeps getting worse, so I see the ortho Monday. Fast appointment....We'll see how it goes...... Guest guest
OK lemme know when you do research on this.... I want to know more. What's the treatment and what's the prognosis? Hugs new problems for me Okay I got my test results from the doppler tests on my legs. I have minimal stenotic disease. Question for you medical minds now - if its showing up in my legs does this mean its doing this in my whole body?? Dr. Garrett talked to my primary (Dr. Ring) yesterday and he wants to see me stat. Dr. is still concerned because my legs start hurting so bad after I walk short distances. So off to Dr. Ring this afternoon. I also need to talk to Dr. Ring about my allergies, I haven't had this much trouble in years, which in turn is really popping my asthma up. This strong south wind isn't helping me either. lol Please visit our website at:http://ACES_Autoimmune.tripod.com

Guest guest
My first pair I got at the Red Wing outlet in Minnesota, the others at Cabelas in Hamburg, PA. Here's their website. http://www.merrell.com/our_shoes.asp They don't seem to have the entire selection on there because I didn't see any of the ones I have, including those I just got, but they do have a dealer locator, so maybe there's a place near you where you could see them. They didn't even have any clogs showing on the site and they have a gazillion different versions of those. Kathy RE: new problems for me wear alot of Merrell shoes Never hear of them. Guest guest
Do you qualify for any of the reduced cost programs? No way, makes way to much $$$$ for that. He does have great insurance even for prescriptions. Its just that the $15 for generics & $40 for nongenerics at the pharmacy, and the $15 generic & $80 nongeneric at the mail in (90 day) pharmacy are getting to us. With both mine and his meds it gets high some months.
Guest guest
I wonder if brushing well with a good stiff brush from the soles of your feet up might help? I use a long handled brush or scrubby when I take a shower/bath. I can't stand anything like that touching the soles of my feet, sometimes I can't even touch them. lol

Guest guest
LOL--as skinny as my feet are, my heels are even narrower. In a well fitted shoe (difficult to find these days) I'm a 9 AAA with a AAAAA heel. My big toe is the longest, though, and each toe gets a little shorter. Kathy RE: new problems for me Me, too. Guest guest
They do make wides. I think you're better off going to a store, because the Merrell site has a very small selection Kathy RE: new problems for me> > > wear alot of Merrell shoes > > Never hear of them. Guest guest
What would it be without insurance? I shudder to think. I know , it seems that the companies that make the drugs are raking in the $$$. Another thing I don't understand is the cost per med can be different from pharmacy to pharmacy and also from drug company to drug company. Our pharmacist always makes sure she uses the cheapest maker (drug company) of the meds she gives us. I remember one script was over $$$ and she said oops and changed the meds to another drug companys one and it was $$. sheesh!!!! Makes you wonder just how much the drug companies really make.... Guest guest
Kathy, do the Merrell sandals have sort of the same look as the Burk(can't even thing of the name) but you know what I mean. I'm like , I have so much numbness in my toes and feet and I have so few shoes that I can even wear now. I have to have surgery done this summer and see ifr I can get some of the hammer toes straigtened out and take care of the bunion. I've probably already left it to the point that they'll have to put in screws and a plate to straighten the bones. Jane RE: new problems for me wear alot of Merrell shoes Never hear of them. Guest guest
Wow, Kathy, you defied all probabilities...not even your feet spread in mid-life. I also used to have VERY narrow feet but in recent years, my feet have spread (I was a 4A when I came out of high schoool) so that some medium widths are comfortable...all depends on brand. I think also that living in a warm climate for the last 18 years has made a difference...wearing all those casual shoes makes a difference. I'm now a 10 -10 1/2 Medium. Guest guest
Jim accused me of having 11 meds that I ordered last month...of course I said absolutely no way! All of his meds are charged to my card also so I'm not sure just how many he had but I do know he had some of his big ones filled last month...like betapace, coumadine, 2 things for his diabetes and one for cholesterol. See I'm not the only one with lots of orders. The thing that gets me is that I have 4 that I am allowed to only get one month supplies of due to regulations...it's a good thing that I don't have to pay for those because one is 1500, another $1000, and who knows about the other two. Jane Re: new problems for me ,Ours are (90 days by mail) $10, $40, & $80. Sometimes one order is over $200. It stretches the budget. What would it be without insurance? I shudder to think. I can't possibly stop working as long as I can crawl to the office - we'd have to stop meds if I did.> Do you qualify for any of the reduced cost programs?> > No way, makes way to much $$$$ for that. Guest guest
I've probably already left it to the point that they'll have to put in screws and a plate Can we say ouch!! My foot doc told me that when ever I couldn't stand it anymore with my toes they'd do surgery. My toes right next to my big toes are crooked and don't even bend straight. On my right foot I'm actually walking on the side of that toe, and that'd probally be the first to get worked on. I've noticed the numbness creeping into more toes and parts of my feet. Guest guest
You guys are scaring me. I have bunions on both feet, & a hammertoe on the right foot. I just keep putting in insoles & wearing wide shoes. The idea of surgery, with my other problems, terrifies me. I know I won't be able to go on forever like this, but I intend to try. -- RE: new problems for me I've probably already left it to the point that they'll have to put in screws and a plate Can we say ouch!! Guest guest
I just discovered that Merrell's are carried by a really good shoe store about 1/2 mile from my condo so I'll go check them out when I've rested a bit. Guest guest
One thing--if you don't see the kind you want there, look elswhere, I've noticed that each store seems to have a different bunch of styles, and that each catalog has a different bunch, and that not all are shown on their website. I don't get it, but that's the way it seems to be. Kathy RE: new problems for me> > > wear alot of Merrell shoes > > Never hear of them.
