in terms of tracking one's fertility... i learned about it from The Natural Guide to Understanding Your Fertility, by Northrup. it's great for learning how to get pregnant or how to NOT get pregnant. it's an amazing book. i almost went into women's health because of it.

fyi, if the condom breaks, there's always the morning after pill. you can use it for up to 5 days after unprotected sex.  it reduces the risk of pregnancy by about 90%.... but since you're not fertile most of the month, that translates to about a 1% risk of pregnancy if you take it on any given day.

i was actually using Nuva Ring, and loved it, but it has the same hormones as birth control pills. although a lower dose than any pill on the market. i'm enjoying being off hormones, apart from the acne. i feel like i am getting to know my body again. apart from wondering why my period hasn't come yet!

Yes! I totally understand!

I have thought about going off of birth control as well. This may be too much information... But I am too much of a nervous person to be sexually active without birth control. Condoms can break, and I don't trust things like the nuva-ring. I have had 2 girlfriends say it (somehow) fell out without them knowing it. Scary! And the IUD is too invasive for me right now.

But I have always wondered what my body would be like without birth control. It is a relief to hear how yours is responding. I originally was put on birth control (at 16 or so) because my menstration cramps were unbelievably horribly painful. Prescription pain killers weren't working anymore. So I always fear that when I finally go off of birth control that that pain will come back. But maybe not!

I know that my mother went off of birth control in her late 40's. She was on it for 20+ years. She never got her menstration back though. Not sure if this is possible but it seemed to push her into menopause.

Once I involuntarily went off of birth control. My mail - in prescription company messed up my order (I hate healthcare plans sometimes!!). So I had to go without birth control for a month. I was really surprised at how missing a month dramatically altered my life. It took about 2 - 3 months to feel mentally and physically back to my old self. During that time span, I was more moody/emotional and completely lost my sex drive.

So anyway I am sure your fertility will return! I actually did not know you could track your fertility. Very interesting!

Definitely a great thread! Its nice to share stories about our bodies with others, it doesn't usually come up in real life. : )
