Guest guest
> Hi ! > > What other hints did your dr give you? hey wendy. he's not actually my " doctor " but he did practice medicine for a while. he said that he ended up feeling so stifled by the box that insurance and the typical medical community wanted him to fit into that he stopped practicing that way and just practices nutrition. he is a " doctor " though, i think he has a phd in nutritional science maybe? i've been meaning to write up a whole big email for the texas thyroid group about my appointment with him, because i think he could help alot of our members, but finding the energy and the clear head to do it has eluded me thus far! the simple story is that he's got me on a few different things. i'm probably not going to explain this all 100% accurately, so if something looks strange, it's probably due to my explanation, not his direction. he's concerned about my body being in fight or flight mode all the time, so one of the supplements is lecithin. the lecitihin is supposed to put a sort of speedbump in my body's production of cortisol so that it doesn't overdo it. the lecithin does come from soy, but it's pharmacutical grade and so it contains no phytoestrogens, so he said it is ok for me to take even with my thyroid issues. he's also concerned about estrogen dominance, so i'm taking DIM. DIM has this beneficial phytochemical that is naturally found in cruciferous veggies that helps the metabolisation of estrogen. it helps to increase the good estrogen metabolites, and reduce the bad ones. he also got me a bood on DIM that i'm really enjoying. i'm really excited about this since i'm not eating cruciferous veggies anymore. seems like a good thing to supplement the good stuff that i'm missing fomr them. along with the estrogen dominance is my low testoserone. he's got me on a supplment called ZMA. it's got zinc, magnesium and b6. he says this will help boost my testoserone and as a side benefit should help me sleep. the alpha lipoic acid is for my mercury concerns, obviously. i also asked him about something to boost my mood while i wait for my thyroid stuff to get optimized and for my testosterone to improve. for that, he's got me on SAMe and 5htp for that. the 5htp helps the SAMe to work better, so i can take a smaller dose and still get benefits. (SAMe is pretty expensive.) any other questions, let me know. rachel.
Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks for typing out the info! Which dr gave you estrogen, test etc blood tests? What magic words did you say to get the test done or are you close to menopause age? I couldn't get my endro or pa or dr to do it, 5 drs so far refused! Going to 6th in 2 months. thanks, > > > Hi ! > > > > What other hints did your dr give you? > > hey wendy. he's not actually my " doctor " but he did practice > medicine for a while. he said that he ended up feeling so stifled by > the box that insurance and the typical medical community wanted him > to fit into that he stopped practicing that way and just practices > nutrition. he is a " doctor " though, i think he has a phd in > nutritional science maybe? > > i've been meaning to write up a whole big email for the texas thyroid > group about my appointment with him, because i think he could help > alot of our members, but finding the energy and the clear head to do > it has eluded me thus far! > > the simple story is that he's got me on a few different things. i'm > probably not going to explain this all 100% accurately, so if > something looks strange, it's probably due to my explanation, not his > direction. > > he's concerned about my body being in fight or flight mode all the > time, so one of the supplements is lecithin. the lecitihin is > supposed to put a sort of speedbump in my body's production of > cortisol so that it doesn't overdo it. the lecithin does come from > soy, but it's pharmacutical grade and so it contains no > phytoestrogens, so he said it is ok for me to take even with my > thyroid issues. > > he's also concerned about estrogen dominance, so i'm taking DIM. Guest guest
* > i also forgot to mention before that i'm taking alpha lipoic acid to > chelate any existing mercury and hopefully prepare me in case i am > exposed to any mercury when my fillings are removed. > > rachel. according to andy cuttler, you should not use ALA until 3 months after all amalgam has been removed. Because ALA crosses the blood brain barrier, you could be putting more mercury into your brain than removing. He also advocates an every 3 hour protocol day and night for using ALA to remove mercury. For 3 days and nights on, then 4 days off. This is what we are using on my autistic son. There is a lot to read about this, and again, not many doctors know anything about it. * There is a very knowledgeable group on yahoo called Autism-mercury. * Andys site is www.noamalgam.com he has written 2 books about this that are available from amazon or from Andy directly. This a very complicated issue, and one that the autism community have studied extensively, since all vaccines are preserved with mercury. nne
