Guest guest
, same here, I am now about 20 pounds overweight and heaviest I have ever been in my life. I am not a big person, 5'2 " and around 140 pounds but I feel so uncomfortable because the excess is all around my middle. I think it is because I was untreated for so long and extremely stressed out with my job. I know what it is like to have to turn up for work each day and be in such pain, I did it for 5 years before I finally decided enough was enough. I understand that some people can't quit though when they are the bread-winner. Lynda Re: no appetite I never was more than 20 lbs overweight, as I am now, and my weight would go up and down from where I am now downward, then back up, so I was never taken seriously either, as far as the so called stereotype that people seem to have in mind for severely hypo people who feel bad. Guest guest
This is why it's important to treat with such probiotics/enzmatic formulas as Primal Defense which corrects all that. C Re: no appetite Undertreated hypo can sure cause a loss in appetite. I now have more of a tendency to crave carbs, since bringing my thyroid levels up, and my digestion has speeded up quite a bit. I think that possibly, in some cases, destruction of enzymes for digestion or other factors directly involving the gastric mucosa can have something to do with appetite, also. Guest guest
that is where all my fat goes & stays...the waistline & abdomen. I'm skinny everywhere else comparitively. C Re: no appetite Whether there's a lot of weight or not, isn't it, it's mainly where the weight goes. Big surges of cortisol for yrs, putting it around the waist, then suddenly the things tucker out, and the fat is STILL around the waist, plus now appetite loss, to boot now. Guest guest
Sounds like me fer shure too. I'm 5'1 " & would like to lose the 20 lbs or so that are making me extremely uncomfortable. Even an extra 5 lbs hurts my low back & hips too muc as it's mostly in my abdomen & waist. C Re: no appetite , same here, I am now about 20 pounds overweight and heaviest I have ever been in my life. Guest guest
If y'all know of a healthier substitute for Boost or Ensure, please yell it out. The hospital here uses Boost and the nursing home uses Ensure. The kidney doctor put mom on Boost. Mom is well enough to go to the fridge while I am working and retrieve a can and open it and insert a straw. This is her breakfast and lunch, unfortunately. I need something this convenient. I'm worried about her nutrition intake now that she finally lost 9 pounds in 2 months since adding Cytomel to the Levoxyl. This apparently increased her metabolism. I've been complaining to doctors for 2 years that Mom is not eating enough, and they don't care, because she's not losing weight. But now she is! ....joan >>>I'm sorry Cindi...Try to think of it as " pretty far from natural " Are there any comparable Healthier drinks that you can buy from a health food store? Guest guest
Ok, I'm wondering if there's a www.slimfast.com because I'm going there and writing them NOW. I liked drinking this stuff too, and I stopped it when I found out about the soy lecithin in it back a couple of yrs ago. No matter what anyone says, my weight was down, I didn't crave anything in between. I also enjoyed a pwdred drink called Naturade that I would periodically sub for the last two meals of the day, for around a week on and two wks off, but it was exclusively soy in it! I lost 25 lbs on that stuff, and it was nutritionally complete, but when I found out how bad soy was for thyroid, I dropped that too, so no more of that one. Guest guest
What a freakin' shame they have soy in them when they work so well otherwise. Sad. Guest guest
There are things out there without soy. I forget the names. I am on a whole food diet to recover from all the illness, so I eat nothing that is not cooked or prepared by me for a while. Guest guest
check out the brand " eas " . i believe, if i am correct, they use mostly whey protein for their powdered mixes and bars. b > > > There are things out there without soy. Guest guest
In my neck 'o the woods one has to shop at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's or Sunflower chain stores for more natural products like those without soy in them. There's no Whole Foods or Trader Joe's nearby me so I go to Sunflower in Yuba City up the highway from me. But don't drink those prepared drinks anyway. I make my own.
