Guest guest
LOL Yeah but they were my audience at the time.... I guess they could be told to stop at one (assuming this was their first) I don't guess it would have been a good time to discuss the benefits of animals eating their young? LOL Re: Tina's wedding Don't you think it's a little bit late to warn those preggies? Stop now! Guest guest
Present??????? Hell no, she's supposed to reimburse me for some of it. We agreed non the amount of $1800. I spent over $2400 on her but I let the rest go! I made her sign a contract and I have a feeling Ronnie's going to invoke his power of attorney and take it out of my hands. He thinks I should sue her. She's throwing money everywhere in town (apparently ther boyfriend's relatives send them money) and they got a big tax refund and didn't bother to send me $10.00 of it! Guest guest
Oh, I know the whole thing wasn't a present, but you said the 1800 you agreed on only covered rent and utilities, so I figured the rest should be here wedding present, LOL. Guest guest
No, two different discussions Sharon. The preggies were in the docs office when I went with for a check up. Tina is the one getting married and no babies that I know of. She's always said she doesn't want kids and she'll be 21 in July. Guest guest
This is where I'm caught in the middle on this issue with a & Kirk. I can see exactly what you & are saying, but I keep going back to the issue of they have a baby now to take care of. If they didn't have a baby, do whatever you have to. Yes they all need waking up, but I've already had to deal with an issue of keeping Zaiden away from me with a & Kirk. At least Kirk did apologize to me for that. I just want to know what kind of dumbbutt pill they took to suddenly loose any brain function they might have had to do all this crap to their parents! If I ever got money from my folks, and it was a dire emergency that I even asked, I felt so guilty until I paid them back. My psychologist said that even he can't understand the idealation of today's young people of the "gimme gimme" and how they feel like everyone owes them something without any feelings on their part of having any retribution of non-payment or even Thanks; and he works with them all the time. Guest guest
I'm with you on the suing thing in your situation--you don't want to take food out of the grandkid's mouth or lose visitation. Yep, my seniments exactly.
Guest guest
I don't understand it either but it's not all of the kids. and I went shopping for her prom dress last weekend and when we left the store, she said "Mom, some day I'm going to pay you back for everything you've given me." Of course I told her if she finished school and did something with her life that made her happy, that's all the payment I need. BUT if she ever gets out on her own and for some reason has to "borrow" money from me, she WILL be expected to pay it back. I thought making Tina sign the contract would instill the importance in her that I wanted it paid back. Speaking of which, tells me Tina has a job now working in the Deli at the Harvey's grocery store. RE: Tina's wedding This is where I'm caught in the middle on this issue with a & Kirk. Guest guest
True for .... if Tina had a child I would be a mess.... but what about my case? What's she gonna do? Stop calling me? She only calls when she wants something. I just got caller ID and it's so tempting not to answer when it's her!! Guest guest
Tina called again this morning and the wedding is off again LOL 's Mommy wants to be there when he gets married. She lives in Washingtom State but she's been in Dallas, GA for a few days visiting his older brother. That's about 4 hours form here. If she really wanted to be here for the wedding, she would have driven her butt down here in time for it today LOL I smell something else in the works. The "reception" is still set for Sunday in the park and she said his mom will be there for that so they're trying to find someone to marry them before the reception LOL I told her I didn't think I would be there even if it was Sunday. Guest guest
Well, I went. I told her ahead of time I would NOT walk her down the aisle and I would NOT give her away. I also suggested she leave out the "who objects" part just to be safe. I behaved myself. I dressed nicely, showed up 15 minutes early, stayed for the ceremony and kissed Tina goodbye and I left. Since the wedding was in the park, they had rented one of the "grandstands" as we call it... sort of a large porch area. Up steps. Tina had everything set up on the ground and just the basics were on the platform. She explained that her mother was handicapped and didn't do steps so the ceremony, etc would be held on the lower level. Well, 10 minutes before the wedding, 's mother moved everything upstairs. Tina pitched a fit and reminded her I wouldn't go up the steps and she said (rather loudly) "Oh, we'll GET her up these steps." Ummmm no, they won't. Tina was able to get everyone back downstairs for the ceremony and I left after that so I wouldn't be "toted" up the steps by the neanderthals. I wasn't ever introduced to anyone even though I was talking to Tina when the preacher walked up and interrupted. I didn't bother talling anyone who I was either so that took care of that dilemma. Tina did ask where her gift was and I told her I didn't bring one but if my being there wasn't enough, I would leave. She said that was ok, someone else got her a microwave. Humph. About 15 people showed up (8 were related to and 4 were there with the preacher) and Tina said she was disappointed because she thought more people would come and bring envelopes with money. Hell of a reason to get married. Appropriate???? The music played for the wedding was from the Titanic. At least in 20 years, my grandchildren won't ask why I wasn't at the wedding. Thank you, SS I had a surprise waiting when I got home yesterday - a shamrock! It's a beautiful amber & sterling silver pin;; I'll wear it to work today so everyone can see it. Guest guest
Christie, I think you handled the situation very well. I don't think we can control our kids lives or decisions. As parents we just have to be there for them when they need us (not to hand out money, just love) but to step back and let them do their own learning about life. It's such a hard road to walk as parents. But kids know when we love them despite how much they try to make us disprove it. You have shown Tina that you love her deep down, despite all you have been through together, just by being there. Hang in there. One day she may be "adult" enough to acknowlege what a great mum she has. (((Hugs))) RobynChristy wrote: Well, I went. Guest guest
Christy, I'm glad you made an appearance at Tina's wedding. Like you said, your grandchildren won't be able to ask why you weren't there, & that might be important some day. Try to focus on the positive - Tina stood up to her MIL when it came to "getting" you up the steps. Now she's married; let her go. It won't be easy, but you can do it. Hugs, minutes before the wedding, 's mother moved everything upstairs. Tina pitched a fit and reminded her I wouldn't go up the steps and she said (rather loudly) "Oh, we'll GET her up these steps." Guest guest
Glad you went. I think in the long run it's the best decision. But I'm also glad that Tina insisted it be on the lower level--at least that shows that she wanted you there on some level. How many did they invite? Nice reason to get married though, LOL.
