Guest guest
Oh wow! You have a *real* phobia, not just one of those passing sorts... I apologize if I overstepped... I think one of the other mothers here was talking not long ago about her own germ-phobia and using the term loosely. You know what they say about " assume " ... After doing that microbiology class, I can't see how anyone could cope emotionally with a fear of bacteria!
Guest guest
Well your just full of good information for me today. I would rather give goat's milk than formula because at least it is in its natural state and not processed. I just didn't[t know that an infant could tolerate it. I agree with you on the smell of formula-pretty wretched. I had a milk allergy as a child ( by the way, I was a formula fed baby) which I outgrew before adolescence. I remember going to the goat farm to get my milk each week. I had no idea that they put sugar and corn syrup in formula! That is really appalling. Guest guest
Blithe, I thought it was very appalling, especially as the first few ingredients. My mom was told to wean my sister when she was two weeks old because of mastitis ( huge misinformation) and my sister didn't tolerate any formula. She cried 12 hours a day and slept the other 12. Until the nanny that took care of my mom when she was little told her to give her milk from our goats. My sister's screaming stopped within 48 hours and she was on goat milk until she was two. My pedi told me as long as my babies get more breastmilk than goat milk it is fine. I gave it to Zaid at about 3 1/2 months. Pumping is the best option but wasn't working for me at the time. Guest guest
mygrandmother became very very ill when my uncle was 6 weeks old and had to go to the hospital--my mother remembers her granmother and father boiling goast milk on the stove and how awful it smelled and her baby brother screaming and screaming his head off. he would no totelrate the formula but did well on goats milk for over 2 weeks--my grand mother is sucha n amazing woman. with no pump she built up her milk supply again by nursing him as long as she could after evry bottle he drank and he went ont o nurse for over 2 years
Guest guest
As a baby I didn't tolerate formula either but my mom hadn't even attempted to breastfeed. She just did what her mom and the doctor told her and fed us formula. She says I hardly kept anything down and cried all the time. I still managed to put on weight and was a very fat baby. I think they eventually put me on soy formula. I really think my weight problem is somewhat related to how I started out in life. It certainly isn't genetic. No one else in my family is more than 5 to 10 pounds overweight. I will keep that in mind about the goat's milk. Pumping doesn't work very well for me either, though I rarely had to do it. in an emergency situation I would certainly go with goat's milk over formula. Thanks! Guest guest
Blithe, That is how I feel. I will nurse over anything but in an emergency or for a very brief time, goat milk is my choice. I won't ever give one dime to those formula companies for their substandard product. Wendi Re: Neat Story As a baby I didn't tolerate formula either but my mom hadn't even attempted to breastfeed.
