Just submit an essay no less than 250 words > detailing your pain and misery, O Happy Day! Since I last wrote, the May sun has finally come out of hiding in Pennsylvania! -after being shrouded in darkness and cloudy, raw raininess for 18 endless days! Yipeeeeee! The birds are singing today, the flowers are blooming, and my spirits could be soaring, as well, except for one thing...................some residual " S.A.D " I'm experiencing.here in Pennsylvania. How could I have S.A.D on such a sunny day, you may ask Faryl, I'd like you to consider something which I don't know has ever been done before, in this great nation of ours. Ready? In my essay for eligibility for Faryl's Fibroidal Farm, I would like to apply for interstate political asylum status. I'm thinking of becoming a Pennsylvania refugee. . . by fleeing to Arizona--not only for climate reasons, but for political reasons, now. What follows is my 250+ word essay submission about my " pain and misery. " (per your request). As a Pennsylvania resident, I've been suffering from severe S.A.D. (No, not Seasonal Affective Disorder--which I'm totally over, as of today), but I have the other S.A.D. (Which I call " Santorum Acquired Disgust " ) For those of you LOL who do not know--Rick Santorum, is one of Pennsylvania's U.S. Senators. He's not just any Senator--he happens to be a powerful one, being the U.S. Senates's 3d ranking member of the majority party. Recently he gained a little ummm.......attention (notoriety) for having equated homosexuality with incest, bestiality, polygamy, and adultery. That's right. Consenting gay partnership is in the same category as a father raping his daughter. Oh, and he also is not too keen on us heterosexuals having our privacy, either. He's maintained our Constitutionally-protected right to absolute privacy in the bedroom " destroys the basic unit to our society because it condones behavior that's antithetical to strong healthy families. " Uh-oh. What if he knew what some of us LOL do behind closed doors?!!!!! And if he only knew that some of us only do it to relieve fibroidal symptoms and menstrual cramps. SO IT'S MEDICINAL!!!!! What if he knew about the autoerotic tanning bed behavior? Yikes! And what about newly joined list member " Leaky Les, " just one of our gay Fibroidians. Oh dear. Let's not tell him all that. Oh, and one other thing--shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks Senator Santorum sent out a letter making a desperate appeal for donations for a nonprofit group........ lobbying against foreign terrorism? Nope. Domestic Terrorism? Nope. The correct answer is.......money to lobby against same-sex marriages. In the letter, he wrote " I know it may sound like a huge exaggeration, particularly in light of the attacks on America, but this may truly be the most important letter I have written. " ' Yeah, right--Huge exaggeration, Senator? Hmmmmmm It's a tough call--which is more threatening to national security in the post 9/11? Al-Qaeda or Homosexuals? !!!!!!!! It's no secret that this guy has big political aspirations. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes a run for the White House. And lest any of you think this is TOT (totally off topic), it's not really. In our Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, try to make a routine appointment for any medical specialist. If you do, you might need to have your agenda for the year 2004. OB/GYN, in particular are leaving PA so fast, I might have to go to Indiana for my next PAP smear. (Oh, never mind, I guess not. Kukulaka will try to dissuade me from traveling to Indiana for medical care.) Hopefully, I can get my PAP smear when I flee to Arizona. We know that Faryl's got the " doctor interview screening " technique down pat. Pennsylvania is having a huge medical crisis. Let me say that I find this problem a huge puzzle, and have wracked my brain, but don't see how it can easily be solved. But...... why worry my pretty little head over this? Our Senator Santorum believes that the solution is to do away with the legal rights of Pennsylvanians who have been injured by medical malpractice by establishing an arbitrary cap on jury awards of $250,000. That's what he proposes to stop so many doctors leaving the state due to skyrocketing insurance rates. He never mentioned anything about accountability by the medical profession. Interestingly 40% of malpractice claims are generated by the " bad apple " grossly medically negligent 2% of physicians. But, the cap solution proposed by Santorum allows those " bad apple " to continue practicing. Pennsylvania House Minority Leader Bill DeWeese pointed out the extreme hypocrisy of Santorum on this issue. Yes, Santorum supports the President's proposed cap of $250,000 on jury awards--- but, apparently, just for OTHERS. You see, Santorum's wife, Santorum, sued her chiropractor in Virginia and eventually won a $350,000 jury award. Didn't mention ever giving back that superfluous 100 grand....did he? As De Weese said: " Senator Santorum trusted a judge and jury to decide what was right for *his* family, but does not appear to hold that same trust for every other Pennsylvanian I find his position on this issue unfathomable. " Not only is Santorum homophobic, he's also a hypocrite. So according to Santorum, let's forget about the flagging economy, the healthcare crisis, education, developing a fair tax code, prescription drug coverage and terrorism--'cause it's the gay community, stupid. See what I mean about Santorum Acquired Disgust? " S.A.D.-der but Wiser " in Pennsylvania, Ms. " I-M-Ready-2- B-A-Refugee, Ranting Roma "
