Guest guest
Hello! I guess my question to you about your situation is " Why not? " . What's wrong with sampling? What's wrong with seeing what you enjoy and what you don't enjoy from the food you have available to you? I think part of the issue is that you are imposing some sense of " rules " on this situation which is probably making all the food that much more enticing because it is labeled " dangerous " . > > I am at a summer program at a university where the cost of this 4 week program is so high, that it does not make sense to buy pots and utensils to cook your own meals. Besides, room and board has already been paid for on my scholarship. > This is a huge change as I am not a student but a worker and I cook my own meals. I know what I add and how it is cook. Now here, a buffet kind of cafeteria, meals are killing me. I know I have been eating beyond satisfaction level. > It's is so hard. There is everything for dinner and lunch: from salad bar to cooked meals to cereal, ice cream, all kinds of bread and bagels and peanut butter. > Everyone eats differently so eating at a table with others is also challening. I want what they have. If someone decided that her dinner is a peanut butter sandwich, I want it, despite the fact that I had my dinner already. > Pies, cookies, muffins, it's all here...I can't spend my 4 weeks sampling... > how do I do it? > thanx > A >
Guest guest
When I go to a buffet, I usually pick a little tiny bit of everything that looks delicious to me, then determine that I will go back for more of my very favorite things. And we don't have to be a member of the clean plate club. I never finish the things that weren't so great. It has to be #10 for me to want more of it. I hope that helps! Pies, cookies, muffins, it's all here...I can't spend my 4 weeks sampling... how do I do it? thanx A
Guest guest
LOL...I'm pretty sure they understood it is not a one time thing. With intuitive eating, you can be in a situation like this daily and be okay. That's if you're practicing Intuitive Eating. If you're new to this like me, you may want to read Intuitive Eating or other books recommended here. (Also, it seems you have two choices: one, learn and practice intuitive eating in the buffet situation or find a way to sacrifice money you were going to spend on something else and spend it on pans at a dollar store, etc. Or even try a bit of both. ;-) Welcome!
