We are slowly losing our rights as it is. I think cameras in all public places is a bit overkill. Also, there are so many cameras already in place for traffic lights, businesses for security, toll booths, etc.

I think that cameras in schools is a good idea, because the children are minors and especially for classes that serve children with disabilities and specifically "non-verbal" children. They are the targets of most abuse, since they cannot report. Also, I think the laws need to change as they are applied to teachers or any school personnel. When they are above the law and cannot even be arrested or charged because of the union's protection or collective bargaining contract, there is something really, really wrong with the system.

I think there should be cameras in ALL classrooms. And for that matter, anywhere a police officer has any contact with alleged criminals, too. Well... I'd even go so far as to say I wish we had cameras in all public places and a network of people watching them - even if it's only as a hobby - that could alert authorities when a situation they are viewing warrants it.

Has anyone ever heard of the people who listen to police scanners for a hobby? If we had people watching public cameras the same way I bet a lot of crimes could be prevented or halted in progress. There are a lot of people with nothing better to do... especially with all of the unemployment. Instead of watching mindless TV "reality shows" and sitcoms wouldn't it be more fun to watch in real time for people trying to commit crimes and report them?

It all boils down to the same thing it always does: money.

I hope the mom wins the lawsuit and goes after the teacher's license.
