Subject: Re: Genet/Tues Color Profile I just wanted to share an experience with you and hope that I can save anyone else from going through it. I have a 16 year old son that has been on Paxil CR for about 2 years. It did help originally but after a year and a half of the Yasko protocol it seemed to agitate him. I had weaned him off all other pharmacueticals and wanted to get him off SSRI's as well. I did a very slow wean. I switched to liquid and would go down less than one mg every 5 to 10 days. It didn't matter. His aggression and violence increased. I was down to less than one mg a day when I stopped and that is when it really hit. Night terrors, sweating, anxiety to the point that he would run back and forth and did not sleep for over 36 hours. He was hitting and kicking and pinching me. My arms were so bruised people stopped me on the street. He would cry and scream for hours. He got kicked out of summer school and summer camp. He would spit at everyone. I read on the internet that Paxil is the worst for discontinuation syndrome and many people can't ever get off of it, they feel like they are dying so they end up going back on. What is worse is that most doctors tell you it is in your mind and it is no different than any other SSRI. I feel so horrible that I was not better informed when I was told to put him on it that it would help with his attention etc. If you ever try to wean your child off of any SSRI it must be done slowly but with Paxil it is better to switch to Prozac first which has a very long half life and then start the reduction. I really hope no one else will ever have to go through this. Krisitne = Dell Deals: Treat yourself to a sweet deal on popular laptops!
