Guest guest
Hey, thanks, ! Shoot-howdy, I know what you mean about the “to do” list. Seems I get to check 3 things off the list and want to declare it a good day, but can’t, ‘cause 5 additional to-dos somehow managed to creep on the list while I wasn’t even looking! Hee hee. You know the saying “aw, if it ain’t rats, it’s roaches”? Well, no sooner do we get Jim’s skin in a better place, when the dermatologist has to switch gears & remove something scary on me. I’m sure Jim & I are putting her son through college, LOL!!! When I get myself in order, then it’s Jim’s colitis that shoots off to mega-flare (he’s back on prednisone, unfortunately, but it’s a necessary evil we hope will be temporary, ‘cause with slight improvement in the colitis, finally, he’s now able to proceed with the taper). So back & forth he & I go, passing the baton of medical issue, until one of the kids (or a friend) experiences some kind of crisis, just for good measure. And so it goes – I keep reminding myself, though, in the thick of whatever “it” is, that “it” all pales in comparison to the latter half of 2001. That’s always effective in reminding me that *these* are the good times J I wouldn’t miss reading a single post in our group, but these days, with so darned much going on, it takes a lot to unlurk me… like wanting to spare anyone else the kinda difficulty we’ve experienced! Don’t get me wrong, the liver tx department at USC is nothing short of awesome, but as I’ve said, we took Jim’s dermatologist’s & oncologist’s counsel (on lowering Jim’s Prograf, to reduce the skin cancer jiffy-popping) to heart… yet, every time we’re there for clinic, it’s like we must gear ourselves up for stepping in the ring with boxing gloves on. Initially, after the first 2 malignant melanomas, they did agree to eliminate Jim’s prednisone altogether, without a fight, but the issue of Prograf has always been another story with them. Last clinic visit (with the hep who’d just lost his mom to melanoma) was a welcome exception to their norm, & happy to say Jim’s labs experienced nary a blip on the screen as his Prograf got dialed down one notch further. Next clinic is in a little over 2 weeks; I wonder if we’ll see the same hepatologist? I do think about you ( & others in the group), often. It’s also really good to read updates on KC Rich, Cheryl, Peg, , JQ …which in turn makes me wonder how others are doing, too. (Michigan Hunter , , Andi, Darin, et. al., are you there? Consider this your Mouseketeer roll-call, jot off a post to us, & let the group know how things are, if you can!) Thanks again, . Take care. Hugs, Maureen From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of MO425@... I understand what you're saying, and appreciate your post. I, like you, would love to see the " presumed consent " come to pass. Thanks for the " guestbook " entry on my site, I've been meaning to write you privately, but it seems I can never get caught up on my " to do " list.
