TAAYAH

(Treatment for Anxiety in Adolescents/Young Adults with

High Functioning Autism)

The Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Treatment (CAMAT) Program at UM is collaborating with UM-NSU CARD, University of California, Los Angeles, and University of South Florida to evaluate the efficacy of a cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for

adolescents with an anxiety disorder and high-functioning autism.

Participation involves an initial in depth diagnostic assessment to appropriately characterize anxiety symptoms the individual may be experiencing. If treatment is recommended, both the adolescent and their caregiver will receive state-of-the-art treatment that has been shown to be effective within a variety of different populations and age-groups. Upon completion of the treatment, individuals will receive payment for a

post-treatment and one-month follow-up assessment.

At UM, we are currently recruiting older adolescents and young adults

(ages 17-21; male or female) to a pilot study of this treatment program.
