Guest guest
Hi all! In response to Jayeff's question about feeling the need to buy food - I have an observation about the way I grocery shop, not an issue, cause it doesn't bother me: When I grocery shop, I tend to go through most aisles to see all the food I have to choose from. I think this is because for a long time I felt I shouldn't buy anything that was processed because it was "bad" so I would only shop the outside aisles as much as possible (produce, frozens, deli, milks.) So now, when I am walking the aisles, if I see something I want, I buy it. If I see something that my initial gut-reaction is "no, I couldn't have that in my house," I almost always buy two of it. I do that just to prove I can buy it, and so I won't give myself the impression that there are foods I don't trust myself with. So far, this method is working for me. There have even been a few times where I get the item I was afraid of home, and then don't ever crave it. But at least I know it is there if I ever do want it, and I am not afraid of it! Now eating the food I have available represents more of a challenge for me - legalizing and mindfulness are ongoing work as well as (body) hunger awareness etc. Tell us more about what buying food make you feel like as well as positive and negative effects for you. That could help make more connections with others here who can relate to what you are experiencing.Best to you - KatchaIEing since March 2007>> does anyone else struggle with the need to BUY food (from restaurants, convenient stores, delivery)? I keep thinking that this "need" is intricately linked with my struggles with food. What do you think this is all about?>
