AfterCare Situation

Our son is a 6 yr old, high functioning child. He is in a typical 1st grade

class with an aide. He attends aftercare everyday at the JCC in City.

Our problem is that he often ends up hurting other kids in his group. Many

times by accident and sometimes out of frustration. Example: When they are

swimming in the pool maybe some of the kids are jumping in. He joins in the fun

and ends up jumping on one and hurting them. They tell him not to do it anymore

but of course it is fun and he doesn't know when to stop like the others might.

So he jumps again and hurts someone.

Other times maybe they are playing ball. He gets mad and expresses his anger by

throwing the ball at someone and hurting them.

They have been trying to be patient with him but my wife thinks that after the

next incident (which is sure to come) we will be asked to leave the program.

Are there any other programs near the City area that you can recommend?

The good thing about the JCC is that he takes a bus right from school to the

JCC.

Thanks,
