Eye twitching when hitting puberty?

Has anyone had experience with your son (or daughter) experiencing eye twitching or beginning to exhibit symptoms like those of Tourette's syndrome? My son is 13 and for the last few days I have noticed his eyes twitching and blinking a lot. He says he doesn't know what is wrong, but that they feel "sleepy". It's not a sleep issue, since he is on his normal schedule. Not sure if it's allergies but they are not itchy or runny.

has a friend who when he hit puberty began getting horrible tics and eye blinking/twitching. I'm hoping it's not the same thing. (
