Guest guest
Does anyone know about this.........already got foodstamps for adult child with disability?: Daughter with disability living at home with me, single father. She is 25. She receives SSI about $600 month. Works and receives gross pay about $300 month. I read somewhere that she qualifies for food stamps because over age 22 and she shops for and prepares her own meals. Question is, out of the $600 month from SSI, she is paying to me $400 a month (amount told to me by social security administration). I am not clear as to whether some of the monthly payment is supposed to be for food and if yes, is it for one meal a day, two, none? The online application for foodstamps has two categories .......... rent or room & board. She does not pay rent (SSI figures amount based on sharing of household expenses) so I think it must be room and board. Problem is if enter the 400 in room and board, it defines r & b includes meals........then asks her to enter how many meals a day is included in room and board. I figure if she says 2, then she would only get food stamps towards one meal a day. If she says 1, she would get towards 2. I am not trying to get anything not entitled to. I am just confused. Those parents whose adult child is receiving SSI ...... and you are receiving a part towards housing........do you know if you are receiving rent or are you receiving room and board or ???. Thanks for info. Binh
