Guest guest
Hi all, I am not close to surgey yet, but I am sensitive to having metal left permanently in the jaw areas. I know lately there have been a lot of surgeons start using resorpable screws/plates for attachment, which dissolve after a year or so, well after recovery and healing takes place. I am not going to see my surgeon for a few months so dooes anyone here know if there is any risks/disadvantages of the resorpable material rather than titanium they usually use? Is there danger of resorption of bone as well rather than just the plates/screws alone for example? ANyone who could comment from their own questions to their surgeon please reply. I dont see why I should have a second surgey for screw/plate removal if it resorpable things could be used in the first place. THanks
