Guest guest
Jeannette, I'm reluctant to give advice in this case for a large variety of reasons. One of these is that I don't know nearly about his case to judge the relative importance of his various therapies and schooling ( " ABA therapy " , for instance, is a misnomer -- there is no such thing as " ABA therapy " . The fact that you used the term doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in your therapist, but that's hardly enough for me to recommend that you drop the sessions, especially since I don't know what he's actually doing). One important thing to consider, however, is the fact that academic learning is important. I can't necessarily agree with the principal's decision (and believe that he was being far too heavy-handed even if he was clinically right), but don't forget that missing school has a distinct, negative impact of its own. -- Cheezem aspieperspective.blogspot.com Hello: I need advice: My son is 5 years old and goes to a cluster for kindergarden. He is going to ABA therapies, speech and OT as well. Two of the therapies are temporarily set on Monday mornings, which implies for him to be absent at Sheridan school one day a week temporarily. What are my rights for him to be absent one day a week from school. Someone told me the absences at school count mostly when he is 6 years old. The principal at school said so far that absolutely not absents at school for any kind of therapies. Please help. Do I have to modigy his IEP? Thank You, Jeannette -- -- Cheezemaspieperspective.blogspot.com
