Guest guest
I found the page in the book referred to, and its one. Chapter #10! Yep! This chapter will soon be torn out of my book! Honestly though, the book will still read the same and send the same message without that chapter. (I think it's only in there to broaden the audience to include those who still believe they must diet). I am currently working with a publisher on revisions to my first book for teachers of dyslexic readers and am experiencing the " broad audience " issue firsthand! In fact, I believe this chapter May have improved sales, as when you read the link I sent, you will find that its critics want a more prescriptive diet program, in addition to the therapeutic processes it takes the reader through, but heck- they can find that in ANY dieting book! http://www.:dietsinreview.com/diets/Shrink_Yourself/ I think you should give it a read. I have 17 books here and it is the only one that has spoken to my heart and soul about why I turn to food 4 comfort, and it is gently leading me to the point that I am allowing myself to face the painful realities in my life. I have a Master's degree in counseling and KNEW I was an emotional eater, but until now I could not find a way to face the issues causing me to feel so powerless!!! If you read this book and decide not to post it, I'm ok with that, but I hope it will be ok for me to mention it to people on here who are crying out in pain 4 help in defeating their desire to feed " mouth hunger " . The book Intuitive Eating lays an excellent foundation for people so they understand the difference between physical and emotional hunger, but doesn't give us the guidance and support we need to stop NEEDING to enter the food trance to escape our feelings! Like I said, up until now I KNEW I was feeding my mouth/emotional hunger, but didn't know how to change it. Guest guest
, I'm really glad that you found a book that speaks to you. I think we are all coming from different backgrounds and so of course different books and ways of thinking work for different people. Personally, I've found McKenna's book to be tremendously helpful to me, but I think for a lot of people it's too " diety " (being told to only eat when I am physically hungry doesn't awaken my food rebel, but I know it does for some). I think debate is great, and perhaps on the book list we can write about the different perspectives that people have on different books and resources?
