>>> if you did this diet, did anyone see results soon... or did

it take a while.. and of course DID you actually see results

period.<<

,

Our daughter(18yrs) has been on the GF/CF/SF diet for 3 years now.

As says, allergy testing for these was not productive.

Traditional and sublingual testing did not identify any of this, An

allergy panel through Great Plains put those items at a +1(minimal).

What convinced me to try was an IgG antibody test for each that were

very high. The diet has been a Godsend for her to control seizures.

She's old enough that she will occ. sneak a forbidden item - we see

the return of her seizures in 8-12 hours like clockwork. Gluten

sensitivity seems to be decreasing as we chelate. She has eaten some

foods with gluten and NOT responded with seizures but still with

very irritable behavior. The casein is still a potent trigger for

her. I would also encourage you to wipe those out of your diet if

you are still nursing. This 18 year old was a totally fussy baby as

I took my daily yogurt while nursing, thinking I was benefiting both

of us. B.

> We are luck. I did not believe that supplementation would make any

difference, but after just 3 months on the supplements, we had a

totally neurotypical child.

Congratulations!

> 1. Can just building health detox a young child?

The Pfeiffer protocol is based on the theory that proper

vitamins/minerals can start the body's ability to detox on its own.

So far as I know, it is still too new for data on whether or not it

actually works that way, but you can read more about it here

http://www.hriptc.org/

> 2. Is it possible that she does has a " chemical imbalance " instead

of mercury toxicity?

Yes, but I would want to go further and ask " what is the cause of the

chemical imbalance " . If you test for metals, you might find your answer.

> 3. Would she benefit from ALA?

My kids are fully chelated using ALA, and it did remove most of their

issues. The remaining issues were addressed by anti-virals and

certain supplements.

This suggests getting plasma cysteine determined, or trying a high

sulfur diet.

The only really bad things in the autism world are the cults that chant

and chant and chant about something you are supposed to do for " moral "

reasons without regard to whether it is good for your kid. Two

examples are pediatricians who give vaccinations and people who think

every autistic kid needs to be on the GFCF diet.

and wheat. I do not fully understand it either.

My son regressed when I removed wheat and used rice instead. As it

turns out, his rice intolerance was MUCH WORSE than his wheat

intolerance. I added back wheat with HNI enzymes and removed rice.

This caused nice improvement for my son.

Altho many autistic kids have problems with gluten/casein, your child

might be different. Mine was.

The GFCF diet has been a blessing here. It not only has offered our

daughter the best seizure control we have seen, but it lead me to

the mercury connection and this group. After 4 years, our daughter

still responds with seizures to eating any amounts of gluten and/or

casein. The cooking efforts to replace bread products(breads,

waffles, pancakes etc) are way too much time in the kitchen for me!

We have essentially deleted most grains except for one substitute

that holds a weekly 'pizza' mix(mostly veggies in that mix). We do

use lots of stir fry. It's easy and quick. I have been able to

introduce new foods a tiny bit at a time so that they become a

familiar sight and accepted. You can also dump many supps into the

final cooked product without changing the taste.
