Guest guest
I had the same problem. I applied for grants to cover his therapies. Have you tried that? To: sList Sent: Friday, September 18, 2009 9:00:57 AMSubject: insurance maxed out Hi all, My benefits for my sons speech and ot therapy have maxed out for the year. I now have to pay out of pocket until January. I can't afford it. I don't want to stop the therapy as he is really doing well with it. He is in the ESE pre-k full time but doesn't get any therapy through his IEP. Is there any way I can get my insurance to continue coverage under a different claim or should I just stop the therapy until the coverage begins again? ( I don't want to do that). He still has mental health outpatient visits left as we have not used any. Should I switch to a phd or other kind of mental health worker in the interim for some kind of therapy at least? My son is 3 with Pdd-nos. Improving rapidly in speech and cognitive areas. He has severe anxietys with food and noises and seperation issues. Also social skills are lacking as well as eye contact.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Debbie
Guest guest
Hi, I am an LCSW just getting started in this field because of my own personal history. I understand working with children on the spectrum because it is a practice I do daily with my own children. I can bill insurance for my services as mental health visits. This is how I initially got my services covered when insurance wouldn’t cover the speech & OT therapy for my daughter. I was just very lucky to find a mental health professional with ASD experience that could bill my insurance. Not sure of your location but feel free to call me to discuss this further. If I cannot help you, I might know someone that can. Guest guest
Yes, I do work with children on their behaviors although I am not a BCBA. I use behavior modification and discrete trials combined with many other approaches I have learned along the way. I work with children of all ages. As I am just in the beginning stages of private practice, I am currently only a Medicare provider but am also on the process of signing on with other ins. companies. However, I am an out of network provider for BCBS, Cigna and others. Feel free to e-mail e off list or call me if you want to discuss further.
