Guest guest
Representative Dorothy Hukill officially filed the Restraint and Seclusion Bill yesterday. It is House Bill 81. Last year this bill was filed and it was not heard in one committee. Neither in the Senate, nor the House! We must demonstrate our support for this legislation by attending the meeting with her next week. She will be in town for a meet and greet on Thursday August 27th at the Hilton on Glades Rd. and the Turnpike, in Boca Raton, from 5:30-8:30. Click here to print information. If you are not planning to attend this meeting, ask yourself this: Has your child ever come home with a black and blue mark, or scratches and red marks? And they can't tell you how it happened, or how long they were in a secluded 'time out' or even worse, 'restrained' or Barred? Is your child becoming more aggressive and you suspect it is because of events happening at school, but you can't get any answers? You are not alone. Many children have been hurt and worse, have died after prone restraint and extended seclusion. It is a serious problem that must be addressed. Rep. Dorothy Hukill will work hard to pass this legislation and stop the abuse of developmentally disabled children in our schools here in Florida. But we must show her a groundswell of support, to move this legislation this year. Please come and show your support for her efforts. THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN.
