Two good days

Ok, I'm still having the migraines, but I've heavily medicated myself so they aren't too bad.

Yesterday I went antiqueing with my friend and today we went to Cabela's with my son and d-i-l, and then stopped at an antique shop on the way home.

It's so good to get out like that. I mean, I do rest alot, etc, and I will pay for the outings, but it's worth it.

I got a wonderful new pair of Merrell's and two pairs of well cushioned, cotton walking socks...I figure the good socks take some of the stress out of walking, I used to get them for hiking, but they should make any walking I do on vacation easier.

Denny is doing well after his transfusion--he's nice and pink, and he isn't getting short of breath on the stairs, and his arm doesn't hurt anymore, so we're in good shape.

Kathy - I feel for you with the migraines. I had one for three days last week. My doc gave me samples of a new migraine med to try, its Relpax. Its not an anelgesic so it won't affect you doing anything. You take one and if that don't work, you take another one in two hours. He said it doesn't work on all people, but if you're one of the lucky ones, then you won't have to be knocked out for a couple of days.

Here's what rxlist.com said about it: RELPAX reduces swelling of blood vessels surrounding the brain. This swelling is associated with the headache pain of a migraine attack. RELPAX blocks the release of substances from nerve endings that cause more pain and other symptoms like nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound.

It didn't work to good for me, but then I didn't get it until I'd had my migraine for over a day. So I'll try it again next time and hopefully take it when I feel it coming on.

I usually only need ice, ES Tylenol and caffiene. But then it's usually over in 5-6 hours from first visual disturbance until the end of the pain. Of course I usually only have about one a year.

Years ago I got them regularly. I used to have a med called ergostat that you'd dissolve under your tongue at the first sign of the aura and then the headache wouldn't come. Then once I had one of these week long ones and the Doc gave me something called bellergal, don't know if they still make either of those.

Since I still feel kind of headachey this morning and I'm not even fully awake yet, I may find out some day this week, LOL.

At this point I wouldn't care much if they just knocked me out for a couple of days, LOL
