Hi - I haven't had mine yet, but I was told the office procedure

would be about $2000 and if I had the procedure in the hospital

(still as an outpatient but using their OR) it would be about

$10,000. These are figures in US dollars and it was for the SARPE -

Surgically Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion.

My doctor told me they started performing these types of surgeries in

the office because a lot of insurances stopped covering them and

people could not afford the hospital procedures.

My HMO won't cover any of it (bastards!), so I'm having the office

one even though the surgeon said he could guarantee perfect results

with the hospital one and couldn't with the office one - said there's

something (forgot what) they can't cut in the office because its too

close to an artery, but if they are in a hospital OR they can do it.
