Guest guest
No, I understand you are not alone. I had to change gyn and it was a major thing. I was a nervous wreck. Really you are not alone, but just remember you are in control of yourself, and don';t let anyone make you feel small or neurotic, they will do that, especially these receptionist. By the way, why are you going to the endocinologist. I am thinking of one for myself. Millie VENTING...long... I am so tired of going to Dr.'s. I honestly wish I would NEVER have to see one for the rest of my life. Not that they are inherently bad...but I realize they just don't KNOW how to treat Vulvar or bladder problems, and especially NOT hormonal problems and all that goes in between. I asked my pcp to refer me to an Endocrinologist. Though it took days to hear back from the nurse...yes, she will refer me. So it's been a week, why have I not gotten a call about when the appt will be? So I wait like a nice little patient then call today...Reason: The Endocrinologist is looking over the referral form and has not gotten back to my doc yet? How nice!!!!!! So, I guess it doesn't matter what is going on with me...obviously I have all the time in the world to sit around and wait until somebody makes a decision!!! Why doesn't my OPINION count? I KNOW I need help wit h my WHACKY HORMONES! I hate even calling any of my docs for anything. I try my best not to call them that often. Do you all ever feel like your Dr.'s office has "labeled" you? I try to always be polite, but I feel like they dread hearing my name..."oh no, it's HER again!!!" Maybe I'm just being paranoid...I don't know...but I'm so tired of the RUN around. So beyond OLD!!!!!!!!!! On top of all this, my last set of lab tests are a CROCK....the lab didn't do them correctly, even left one out...they called and said, "hey, the girl that worked with you was NEW and it's HER fault that we didn't get one of your tests, would you come back in so we can do another blood test?" No, I'm not gonna... I literally have a list of docs and things I need to call and make appts. for...can anybody RELATE? I would pull my hair out...but it's comin' out on it's own, literally!!!!!!! ~Chelle
Guest guest
, Yes, sometimes I get tired of calling my doctors, especially with my gyn who says I can call about something only once a week and most of the time I do that but I have a different situation going on now and had to call again on Mon to let them know what's going on. Thankfully I have an appt to see my doctor on Tues. But I knew I was going to call any way because this issue was important because of what's been going on. Bleeding that came from out of nowhere. Yep, that's right vaginal bleeding so who knows what's going on. Kristy ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Got a little couch potato? Guest guest
Some of those receptionists are the WORST. The good ones are a Godsend...but the other ones are usually an example of a teeny, tiny bit of knowledge that is consistently mis-applied. I've been a receptionist in a medical office before and I NEVER gave medical advice and ALWAYS relied on the doc for that stuff and I've had receptionists totally shelve my concerns or give me awful advice that if I would've followed I would've been up s%^t creek. It's why, in my own psychotherapy practice, that I do my own callbacks. I don't trust anybody else to not make me look like a total idiot. Who cares if they label you a troublemaker...I have worked at mental health agencies (huge county agencies and small community ones) and if you are labeled enough of a troublemaker (ie-UNPLEASANT AND BITCHY) you get your way and you get it quick so they will get you out of the office. Keep bitching, writing those letters, whenever they brush you off send a written request for your records (which makes them wonder about malpractice), write letters to supervisors, your state's hmo or medical board, etc., etc. Give 'em heck. Guest guest
You are so right. I hate the nurses who think they are doctors and decide if you need a doctor or not or them. I don't care, I tell all my doctors, I have a responsibility to myself and I have to do what feels right for me. I just left my gyn after 18 years, it was hard, and it hurt but you know I was only a number, and I was being pushed onto the nurse who nothing about vulvodynia and a new doctor just out of school. I could go anywhere for that, so I left and I like my new doctor. You have to take charge of yourself. Man, does it feel good to vent. Millie Re: VENTING...long... Guest guest
You were right to call. I learned a long time ago, its your body and it is on you. WE have to build each other up and remember you are the most important thing. Let no one make you feel stupid. I hope you are okay. Millie, thanks so much. I usually am very in control (though you probably can't tell, LOL)! It's just sometimes, it gets so old trying to get things accomplished with docs and tests, etc. And you are right, the receptionists usually have no clue what we are taking about... >>>>>>>>>By the way, why are you going to the endocinologist. I am thinking of one for myself. Millie My hormones have not been right since I gave birth to my last child 4 yrs. ago. My Estrogen has been falling...and now my progesterone must be falling too, because I've not had a period in two months (never done this before, and I'm not pregnant, I've taken 3 tests so far). My hair has been coming out...I'm not bald, but I sure don't like that it's thinning...I've been having anxiety...though it was much worse before I went up on my estrogen patch. I've had my thyroid tested in every way I know too...I'd like to see if an Endocrinologist could help me get down to the bottom of the hormone changes...thanks for the kind words! ~Chelle
