Guest guest
Ann, yes, going back to liquids eventually help. Right now I'm trying to keep my pancreas as happy as possible. I ate something called Shrimp chips. They are a baked alternative to potato chips and flavored like shrimp (one of my favorite foods). They are addictive, but I've found now, not worth it. Until Saturday, I could ration myself on them at about 10 little chips at a time. Since I hadn't eaten much else that day, and it happened within a short period of time, I know it was them that caused the problem. So, no more shrimp chips for me. As for what food works, well, everyone is different and unfortunately, sometimes all you can do is trial and error as to what works and sometimes, what works at one time may not at another, as I've just found. I've also found that baby food is sometimes more acceptable than others. I frequently eat the fruit an desserts ones and oatmeals and the graduate microwave meals are pretty good too. The rest...well, all I can say is I now know why all those babies spit that stuff out. My pancreas seems to be calming down slowly, so I'll probably be on liquids for another day or so, then, hopefully, I'll graduate to baby food and jello. I also feel that it is frequently easier to manage this disease, and several others I have, if I know why a particular treatment works, etc. That's why I've made such an effort to find out as much as possible about them all. I've never been one to say " just fix it " . I want to know how they are going to fix, why it works, etc. A medical background also helps as I got one of my majors in my BA (i got a double major) is physical anthropology and my focus was human bones. Plus I know work at Kaiser Permanente, so I kinda get inundated with medical terminology that frequently helps to figure out some of the papers I've collected on pancreatitis. Now if only I could find my medical dictionary. I'll probably just buy another one. Any help I can give to others who suffer with this disease and don't know why and are searching for information, I'm more than happy to give. Okay, I seem to have written a book here. Gotta go.
