Guest guest
Hi , I was prescribed a minty rinse called Chlorhexidine, which is either the same or similar rinse that you will be getting. It said on the package that it could discolor the teeth. Although black wouldn't be the color that I would call it, it certainly did dull and darken some of my lower teeth. I was told that the stains can be removed with a professional cleaning from your dentist. The discoloration has faded and I have had one post-op dental cleaning since and things are looking pretty good. I wouldn't worry too much about the discoloration. You will come to really appreciate that rinse! You feel kinda grimy those first days/weeks postop, especially if you have a splint and/or can't open much to brush well, so the rinse is a nice refresher after drinks and " meals " . I was given it to rinse with during my hospital stay and enough was prescribed for home for many weeks. I also put a tablespoon or so in with the water in my waterpik to try to get a fresh feeling where a baby toothbrush couldn't reach. Worked pretty good. Good luck!
