Guest guest Posted January 1, 2003 Report Share Posted January 1, 2003 I am participating as a mentor, finally got someone to mentor the week before Christmas and we have made introductions, but she was leaving town for the holidays -- so, we have not really gone too far into the relationship. I do know she lives in a suburb of Denver and I live in a suburb of Denver, both of us on the west side of Denver. I am waiting til next week to get back in touch with her. I do know one of the first things I will do is recommend this list to her. I also know that she is training through Laird's (have any of you ever heard of it, as I have not). Guest guest Posted January 1, 2003 Report Share Posted January 1, 2003 Hi Judy - I joined AAMT as a student and participated in the mentoring program. I found it to be a terrific program. I imagine the quality of the experience is entirely dependent on the mentor, and mine was great. We really hit it off wonderfully and she was full of really valuable information and provided a terrific sounding board for me. I've been so busy the past few weeks with my new MT job that I actually haven't corresponded with her lately. I'm glad you posed this question. It has reminded me to send a note wishing her a Happy New Year!! I don't know if it's worth joining AAMT just for the mentoring program, however. You might find someone on this list or through an MT board who would be willing to act as a mentor. I joined for a number of reasons, not just the mentoring program, and am very glad that I did.
