Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thanks so much for your advice on the choosing my surgeon question. I did find out that the hospital he performs in is in-network, so it's covered at the 15% rate, but the surgeon himself is out-of- network, so I have to pay the 35%. Anyways, after I have totally confused myself:-), I wanted to know from you helpful people that have been through this, what percentage of the charges of this surgery are hospital vs. doctor? I have no clue how much my surgery will cost (just upper, moving up and maybe back slightly), but if I had a percentage I could at least rely on that. Also, I could get insurance through my employer at a cost of approx. $175/mo, and that would mean I have dual coverage, (same type of provider network, but out of network is 30%), so we would be paying $150/mo for hubby's insurance (can't cancel until Dec.) and $175 for mine, but is it worth it in the long run? I am utterly confused! Thanks!
Guest guest
, The day of my surgery/hospital stay (3 nights), the charges to my insurance were $11,800 (surgeon-40%), $16,058 (hospital-54%), $1,680 (anesthesia-6%). I don't know if the anesthesia would fall under doctor or hospital. Everything was covered, but the insurance actually paid only a small percentage of the total (maybe 30%?). I had upper/lower. Hope that helps.
