Guest guest
Hey everyone, just wanted to let people know what 13 days post op is like... I saw my surgeon today, and he told me everything was going great and to start my jaw exercises... just opening as far as I can and closing. He said the swelling is down 80% and the bite splint will come out in about 2-3 weeks, and I will be ready for the orthodontic rubber bands. I feel great and think that I'm not looking too bad. My bite is looking amazing and I'm really happy with the results and would definatly do it over again. The sinus stuffiness/drainage has almost completely dissipated, and here and there I feel some slight numbness go away, but my bottom lip/chin are still almost completely numb still. I'm able to eat a lot more solid food now, as long as I'm able to swallow them. My surgeon also told me about alcohol... It's ok to drink whenever I want (as long as I don't take my pain meds) but to be very careful that nothing hits me on the jaw or don't fall down on it. Until today I've been using a very soft toothbrush...does anyone know if it is ok for me to use my regular toothbrush?? I forgot to ask my surgeon. Thanks for listening and I hope everyones' surgeries/recoveries go well. Hang in there...at about day 8 or 9 post op, you'll feel a lot better than you ever have. At least that's how it was for me, and I'm still getting better everyday. Andy
