Guest guest
I live in Weston and my typical daughters attend Park Avenue on Glades Circle. We truly like that place. While they do not have a special needs class we are trying out my typical non-verbal daughter in their Preschool class along with my other preschooler this week. My autistic daughter is 5 and loves movement. They will have a teacher shadow her, so we willl see how that goes. We have not tried TAG however I have heard good things. I know they are under new management and lost one of their strong special needs coaches. But that might be worth a try too. Guest guest
I checked out the Tag site for my son and wonder why do all special needs classes have to be on the weekends? It's frustrating. I want something for my son during the week. He has to get dragged around with me while we take my older typical son to all his activities. Every time I finally find something he might like, it's on a Sat. morning. Does anyone know of any weekday after school activities geared for special needs? Guest guest
Let It Be Music, a Music Together class , is forming a class for special needs children on Wednesday afternoons,in Weston, Park Avenue Gymnastics. ( I have had typical and special needs children included in my classes always, but by request of some of the parents, I am offering now a unique opportunity , where special needed s children can take advantage of this program with their caregivers, and the siblings are welcome to participate as wellI just posted my new special in a previous mail. Guest guest
I live in Weston and have tried TAG for 2 sessions but decided to stop. The first session we had a great coach, the second, not so much. No structure, the kids got bored quickly. Park Avenue seems to be a good school, but when we tried it a couple of years ago they weren't at all accommodating to our son. Maybe things have changed, and also at that time, we didn't know why he had trouble following the other kids and the coach's directions, so maybe if you tell them you have a special needs kid things will be different. Please let me know what you find out, I'm on the lookout for a gymnastics program as well! > > > > Subject: RE: gymnastic programs > To: sList > Date: Sunday, August 23, 2009, 8:30 PM > > > ? > > > > Tag Gymnastics used to have a great program with a woman named Ms. Lucy.? Guest guest
Thanks! I'm checking also into the getfit4kidz class at Posnak JCC. Our son went to summer camp there and they have the best special needs camp. I'm working with the teacher now to see about a small class during the week. She says she has one Autisic kid in her Sunday class (of course lol) that does great so that might be something fun to do also. I'll keep you updated when I find out about Tag too. Guest guest
I would think that if you are willing to assist your child, if they need more assistance than the instructor can provide, you can take them to any gymnastics program. It also helps to eventually fade yourself out and teach the instructor the strategies you use for behavior management. Just a thought... From: boatcp@...
